Yes, it's a decorated bridge... I always taste vomit in my mouth when I see those "half wheels" glued on
I'm not sure if it was cost cutting or space saving. There would be plenty of room for a second reversing wheel if there weren't the need for the two decoration half wheels to be glued to the bridge.
You are right bro, thanks for the redirect. This looks sooo bad. I would be inclined to acetone that shit off if I had one. That it also imposes a functional handicap is a double whammy, smh.

Let's hope the CLEAN 4131 has s better design.

Bro what did you mean by plated, aren't they all? That's how the text engraving shows up in a "gold" color.

I recently had to shave a DD4130 mainplate a little off the left side for a better fit in the case and got the same brassy color under the silver plating.

Yeah, @dogwood hit the nail on the head, the faux decoration plate is what frustrates me on rep movements these days. We are spoiled with the clone movements not having these deco plates.

Thank you for the great work you have done! Way to go!

IMO, this new 4131 is bad in many ways, compared with the DD4130 clone. I will keep my hand off until a more significant improvement, namely v2 or v3 comes out.
I think the smart move it to wait to see what Clean factory releases after CNY with their SH4131. Hopefully the engineers at Shanghai came up with something better than this.

Agreed. The term "clone" is thrown around loosely in the community. In my head cannon, I use the following classifications of clone movements:
  • "True Clone" is a movement that's >99% part interchangeable with gen. e.g. DD4130, DD3285, VS3235, or VS3135
  • "Design Clone" is a movement that follows the design of the gen movement very closely but generally isn't compatible with gen parts. e.g. The "clone" patek 324SC and 240 movements, the AP 4302 and 3120 movements, or the JLC 825 movement.
  • "Inspired Clone" a movement that follows the design language of the gen and looks similar at first glance, but is actually something different. e.g. VR3235 and VSF Omega movements
  • "Decorated" a movement that isn't a clone but rather is a slightly modified off the shelf movement with thin decoration plates on top of it so that it looks like something that it's not. e.g. most decorated Miyota 9015 / ETA 7750 / ETA 2824 found in reps.
This should be a sticky and be used for rep movements mentioned on RWI afterwards.

from what I understand clean will improve sh4130 to sh4131 will they be able to make the necessary updates? if they don't succeed we will talk about a success of DD 4131 even with these few updates he has made

hello sorry to bother you I can't understand why it is a disadvantage the one way winding rotor for starters?thanks
Two reasons:
  1. The rotor only winds up the mainspring using half of the oscillations of the rotor. That makes it less efficient at providing energy to the Mai spring. This is probably only an issue if you’re a major couch potato. But if you’re a desk jockey and don’t move much, your watch might not get enough movement to run through the night. I’ve only ever had a watch die on my wrist when I was sick and in a NyQuil induced coma.
  2. Since the rotor only winds one way, it spins freely in the other direction. This free spinning makes noise. Kinda like how pedaling backwards on a bike makes a click-click-click sound as the free wheel ratchet mechanism of spins. This “free spinning” noise is what a lot of people complain about when they’re talking about the “noisy rotor” on the miyota 9015 movement. If the rotor winds in both directions then it can never spin freely which means it’s much quieter.

I think the title should add on keyword "dandong SL-4801" for more exposure.

I recently bought a daytona with this sl-4801 movement and having problem, I tried to google the movement information and found this thread after long search.

Suggested title :

AR+F 4131 (Dandong SL-4801) Movement Tear Down

Not a bad idea… but thread titles can’t be edited (I think). But hopefully with the addition of your comment this thread will index higher for people looking for help with the Dandong SL-4801 Daytona movement.

@dogwood

Thank you for the tear down! Great info and photos!

By any chance do you (or anyone on this forum) know how or where I can get a winding stem that works with the SL-4801? I have an SL-4801 with a broken winding stem (in the winding pinion section). I thought it would take the same winding stem as a 4130 but that doesn't seem to work.

Thank you in advance!

I don’t know where you’d find a stem for the SL4801. Maybe @CTbeforeLP would know… i know he’s ordered a movement directly from Peacock before. Maybe they also sell spare parts.

I'll pm you the email address where you can ask for parts or the full movement. It was roughly around 700 yuan for the full movment + shipping.

Just busy right now. I will pm you tomorrow bro! Remind me if I forget.

You can email

[email protected]

Ask for the SL-4801 or the parts for it.
I am not sure if they sell parts alone, but I know they sell the whole movement.

It costed me $160 USD + shipping I think.

Just curious, would a dial from this 4801 be interchangeable with a dial of a DD/SH4131?

I think so. I believe the dial feet / holes are in exactly the same position.
