AR coating

You have me thinking now! I have a friend who is manageress in a major high st optician if this isnt a major job i could get it done no problem. My concern now is if i want to risk screwing up my Joshua Breitling Nav by having someone take the crystal off to get the job done. Also my guess is the Optician has no idea what a Breitling Nav is let alone how much AR coating it should have.....(Can't say i know myself) So it sounds a good idea in the first instance but wondering now if i could end up with a watch less like the original than i already have by the optician puting on too much ar coating. Looking forward to hearing how Mr Guinea pig (iluvspl) gets on with his before i decide to take the plunge.

my davidsen 195 has a blueish purple and my 113 from ruby has a pink purple blue and both are strong. my navi from ruby has the same blueish purple as my 195 just not as much. since it has the glowing blue dial it is hard to tell it is lighter.

any place that does eyeglasses can do it and it would be 1/2 as much as they charge to do glasses because there is only one lenz.

Except unless you know someone at the place, 9 out of 10 times they wont want to touch it for fear of messing it up. I was told by one place they could probably do it but would send it out (even though they do 1 hour lenses) basically so it was not their responsibility.

it is no different than doing eyeglasses. if they are going to mess it up that just means they will mess up your glasses also.

ok i just talked to my eye doctor and they told me to take a crystal to their lab and let them see if it was big enough for their holders they used for the coating process. if it was it was no problem they guessed it would be about 45.00 to do both sides and their ar coating was blueish purple. now my question is the only watch i have in my posession at this time with strong ar is my davidsen 195. is that strong enough for a breitling? i havent seen a real one to compare it with? as soon as i get a answer i will drive down there and ask them. i can show them my 195 and my navi for them to see the size and the strenth of ar.

Problem is some genuine used different colour from those glasses AR coating. So you have 2 things to take care of. Colours and intensity of AR coating.

blueish purple is what they use. the same as my davidsen. i already asked them. they also want to charge the same to do 1 ctystal as they charge for a pair of lenzs for glasses. they wouldn't explain that. 75.00 i will discuss that further and find out the reason, they don't want to be responsiable if they drop the crystal and broke it. their biggest concern was if the crystal would fit in their holders for the coating process.

i need something to show them the intensity. the strongest thing i have is my davidsen 195. is that strong enough for a brietling? that is what i need to know at the moment. i am willing to pursue this further but i need to find out the intensity and if the crystals are big enough for their holders.

i would like to have more coating on my navi and coating put on my rwi watch. it doesn't have any.

the bottom line was their coating was the color of davidsen's, they can control the intensity and they will do it if it will fit in their holders for the process.

More than likely the price is set by the time to do the job. I would assume the machine does 2 lenses at once to ensure consistency, so when doing a crystal one of the holders would be empty. Same labor to do one lens as two. I would ask him about it, if he confirms what I said, tell him you will give him a second crystal for the second holder.

i am sure you are correct but i wanted to ask them anyway just in case. i want my navi done and my rwi watch so if that is the case i will find somebody to remove my crystals and have them done. i will update on the results for sure but i do not know when i will do this and i also don't know who i will have remove my crystals.

LOL

Yea, it's an AMAZING watch.

Probably my favorite of all time. I've owned a few gen Emergencies--the blue, yellow, and black dials, and let me tell you--- the yellow is AWESOME.

I bought the yellow one new from a grey market dealer on Timezone. It came with a yellow Breitling folder full of forms I needed to send to Breitling in Switzerland: copies of my DL, SSN, had to sign waivers and tons of legal mumbojumbo.

They're real serious about it.

I ended up trading it for a Chronomat and a Seamaster. Stupid idea.

There was one a few months ago on eBay that went for only $1400 or so, but it was a sample or something, the transmitter had been removed from the watch.
