At the moment I'm divided between APSF and ZF for a black or grey 15400 and 15500.
The mods I was thinking of doing was Deep Crystal installation and polishing rebrush to gen spec.
Some things I have heard:
1. I have heard that APSF has more improved dials now and the tapisserie is way better than ZF (while others have told me ZF black is still miles better, unsure about gray)
2. Through looking at comparisons on here and reddit I do see that the movement for APSF is better (both do need RG rotor plating to really solidify it)
3. APSF bracelet is miles better than ZF

I wanted opinions from people who have held both or have more knowledge on this matter from the recent models that have been released from APSF and ZF, accuracy to gen matters a lot to me especially dial color being the major thing.
Looking forward to hearing inputs, thanks!

Hi and welcome to RWI! Glad you found your way here.

Please take some time to read the sticky threads in the new members area (all subsections), learn the basic forum rules and get some very good advice in the process. A number of questions has already been answered there, this is just an example:

As a new subscriber, you've already been directed to this thread, please read carefully and look through the linked additional threads:

Another good thread to read to understand where RWI comes from and some fundamentals is this:

Most of the information you need to know to start is there. If you're preparing to buy, read the stickies before ordering. When you're finished, you can continue learning by reading the stickies in all remaining sections. If it's stickied, it's important information.

If you intend to sell, read the sales rules and all stickies in the sales section with particular care and make sure you understand each single rule. Sales rules infraction is taken very seriously here. As a new member you are not eligible to sell. Using the sales section is a privilege, eligibility must be earned, make sure you know and understand how.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to @eBoy or me, we're happy to assist, advise, direct, explain. Don't hesitate.

Don't be afraid to post noob questions in the new members area. In doubt, use the flame free zone. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere in the new members area, please reach out to @eBoy or me. Mutual respect is of utmost importance to us. This forum is a treasure trove of information and benefits from the engagement of all members who take their time to share their knowledge, help each other out and have some fun. We hope that you'll benefit and enjoy this platform as well as contribute positively to it.

If at any point you feel to contribute also on another level, feel free to pm the boss (trailboss99) to become a supporter and get some little perks with the status (editing rights, for example).

From what I'm hearing APSF is the better option at the moment for all dial colors, unsure about grey specifically as that is more of a niche one but I will get mods done on it either way, dial matters the most and bracelet of course, the rotor RG plating can be done regardless

I have had about three or four different models of this watch over the years. Starting with JF in gray and then blue and more recently i have the apsf with added gen white dial. I’ve loved them all tbh.

does feel a bit better than jf but that could be in my head and subjective. The forum generally says gray is the least accurate dial … if that helps you lean in another direction… however it’s my favorite still and I’ll likely be selling my white dial 15400 for a grey again lol.

I also prefer the 15400 to the 15500 for the dw placement and the dial doesn’t look so empty to me.
