For that kind of price, it should equip with a valjoux 7750 not an asian clone.

I've spent lots on reps, but I don't think I could bring myself to spend that kind of money on this!

Someone help me out with a rough calculation here

On the scales it says 200 does this mean 200 g ?

my RG rubberclad weighs about this so i'm assuming so.

say the rest of the watch movement/xstal/pushers/strap etc weighs 50 g then the case and deployment weigh 150g

price of 18k gold currently = $ 41.28 per gramme ( 24k is 60.93 per gramme )

So :

150 x $ 41.28 = $6192

Price of watch = $ 6180

looks to be in the ballpark if it is indeed solid 18k, indeed if my estimates of weight are correct ( and they really are just estimates ) then the rest of the watch seems to be for free. certainly doesn't seem to be a lot of room for a gen movement in the price.

I guess this gold could have been bought at a lower price or come from who knows where ?

Anyway just an interesting exercise in speculation really and certainly not a statement of facts, be interested to hear comments from someone with a little knowledge.

Interesting, yes... But, lets say you have six-and-a-half large in your pocket for a new watch. Do you but this, or do you buy a gen (or two!)?

Lol....

For that price, i would rather spend it on a Gen watch of other brand in 18K gold.

And to source that is as easy as traveling to the moon...

Edit: Without killing an existing gen AP chronograph.

Yes. And there is nary a pig in the sky, of late! :)

i think if you look at the date of the watch .... that was when the price of gold was cheaper ... now much more expensive as the same watch in todays market value is ..more like close to 9K...... on other TD sites

Yeah, to spend 6k on a rep watch fitted with A7750 movement and just because of the gold does not make sense to me. Might even find it difficult to sell in future when want to sell it.

Might as well use the 6k to buy a 21k gold bracelet and a rep gold plated AP.

all that is well and good, but how would one know that they're getting what they paid for?
