Hi guys, a quick question:

I wish to take out the bezel insert, do I need to remove the crystal? Or can I access the insert without removing the crystal?

Some dirt on it and Im thinking of cleaning it.

Thanks!

I think you need to remove the crystal in order to remove the bezel insert.

You should be able to access it without taking out the crystal. What would you need to do with it?

Some dirt on the lume marker and mark on the insert itself.

Need to cfm if I can access them without taking out the crystal. (I read that the crystal is a pita to press)

I know we can on the v2, not sure on the v3.

I took it apart in May, I can't remember that well but I'm 95% sure you can access it without taking of the crystal.

Would be great if thats the case. What tools u used to get the inner screws off?

*by inner screws i meant those screws holding the bezel and the mid-case, before u can seperate the mid-case and the bezel.

Therefore I used a custom made tool, but tweezer might work as well (although I advice to use the tool). I cannot access repgeek but it's on there...

Hmm, Rg is down at the moment, what keyword to use for search anyway?

I think tweezers might not work on the regular ROOs like the Diver since the bezel screws and the holes are hexagon shaped.
I assume the use of tweezers is to hold the small nut screws inside the case and use a screw driver to turn the bezel screws outward. That would work on APs like the GP or RBII. However, the best way is still to use the custom screw drivers.

Wait a second. I'm waiting for my AP 3 to arrive, once I get some good QC!!! Arghhh!

Anyway, from the look of it, you are talking about the rotating bezel right?

This is a similar construction as the IWC Cousteau models. Which, they would get lume particles and dust on the bezel insert also.

I would remove the movement out of the back, then take compressed air and blast it on the bezel up under the edge by the crystal.

That works most of the time. If not, I take a real soft silk cloth, like for glass lenses, then kind of stuff it up around bezel/crystal, and carefully swipe around to remove stuff that air compression won't get.

I don't think there is a watch I haven't owned that didn't need the movement removed and the crystal cleaned up from smudges/particles between the crystal/dial. Kind of a normal routine for me to do when I get a new Rep watch.

Need to know where to get one of those screw driver, or how to make one. Anyone?

I asked Spinmaster to make one for me and it worked wonder. :)
It's now hassle free.

I have used the forked end of a springbar tool and that gripped and turned the hex nuts quite easily

You don't need to take of the crystal...just unscrew the 8 screws with a tweezer
100% sure
