So the local bellboy contacted the local rep dealer trying to sell a supposed rep GP which looks mighty gen.

I think it's highly unlikely that it's a legitimate deal, and most likely the guy got his hands on a stolen watch he can't get rid of through other means

Well, the watch has been beaten to death so it was probably stolen or lost while yachting. Either way the stand up thing to do is contact AP dealer and find out who the true owner is and return it. The true owner probably was covered by insurance so won't want this ruined masterpiece back and you can then fix it up and sell to tourists as gen for cheap. Make 20K on the deal and buy more from bellboy as he has some skills!
