I'm totally digging the V2 Safari 2014 model! I am happy I ordered it... I don't care about the date window and LOVE the photos on Ryan's site, although I got from my man Ken... Can't wait... now working on the gen strap securing pricing...

The new Safari is great and the date needs to be worked on anyways, regardless if V1 or V2.
Wait untill you have it in your hands before you go the new strap road, maybe the strap wont be that bad ( I think its not bad at all) ...

Thanks! I def agree with you, I'm only getting a price on it right now from my jeweler... I want to make this rep perfect and right now while the strap quality may be there I think the color is def off as the gen is lighter in color on the strap.

Wow surprised what came today as tracking never worked once for me and thought Safari Larry wasn't coming till next week lol the date window is not bad at all and doesn't bother me much, but the strap looks poor on the brown color... I think you need to go gen on the safari strap or at least Jacobs, but maybe I am wrong and you guys decide... Other than that the dial is stunning and I'm enjoying my new time piece!!! Lol

That's the route i'll be going when mine arrives.... it's got to sit next to a gen after all...

Thanks guys! Appreciated, I def love the dial. The brown around the date only comes out a diff color in certain light but so what? 99% of the people I know and work with etc don't know who Audemars is or for that matter what a sporty rolex looks like. You have to be into watches like us! I def gotta get the strap and may put a swiss movement in here though I don't know the correct one to purchase, does anyone know? I think it will be my first Franken build starting w the strap then the movement and date window but much later on or when the movement dies if and when...

Gen Strap...

The inside color of the rep is a dead give away... What do you guys think? I'm interested to hear Slaughters opinion on this one.

i'm not sure. but e rep strap looks to have a redder tone compared to the gen.

our leather experts could chime in but mayb u might be able to alter e colour with dyes or a lil stress?

... yes, thats what I noticed as well, the rep strap has more red in it.

Suggestion: if you are going to order a new strap anyway, why not Play around with that rep strap. Try nail-Color remover or something similar and try to whipe the shine and a Little bit of the Brown Color off your strap. That worked for me on some other rep-straps. After that, get the strap a new wax or oil Treatment to get some shine back. Take good care of the White stitch, do not rub the Brown on the stitch

if you guys go with a Jacob strap make sure, he will use inlays for J12.
The Roo or gen inlays which he used will provide a gap on the plots and to the case.

I may send him the rep strap to use the inlay for the new strap.

I'm undecided... The strap is growing on me on this one, but if I do switch I'm going gen and fixing the date window... The dial on this one is absolutely stunning since they fixed it. I am very impressed! If they put this much effort into the new APs coming out like Schumi, and hopefully grey themes, and gold themes, we are in for some new stunning pieces!! Party on J12/JF !!!

colour actually looks good in the later pictures. &if the 2014 gen safari strap is anything like the previous gen safari strap, then patina does set in really quick on it so darker is absolutely fine but e stitching might need a lil reworking, its like they used threads with no wax.

but yea, fiddling with abit of nail colour remover did interesting things to a previous MH strap i owned.

what bothers me more then colour is the "horns" itself.
