I'm interested in getting the IWC Pilot Chrono 3777-09 (the -10 is the same watch, but on a bracelet). And, so far, my research has led me to believe that ZF seems to make the best IWC Pilots (closest to GEN). Wondering if anyone has first-hand experience with this one and would like to share their experience.

I did also start a thread in the technical forum about the reliability of the A7750, so I won't go into that here (I think it would be a misclassified post).

Here is a QC pic from Hont I found of this specific ZF:

What do you wanna know

How long have you had it and are there any general issue that you have noticed with operation or reliability. I've read stuff like "never use the Chrono" "don't hand-wind" it and 50% of all A7750 break. I want to weed out all of the noise and get info from someone who has direct experience.

From your picture, the date sheet looks good (not to far recessed like I have heard about with other watches) but did you notice anything else. It looks amazing, like it could pass for GEN. Do you know of any "tells" that would give you pause from wearing around someone who knows watches -- IWC in particular.

Do you give it a lot of wrist time, and how do you like it?

Oh, and have you ever had the need to have it serviced and can you recommend someone who works on A7750s?

Ok, here we go

1) The A7750 is still garbage. Mine has an issue where if you run the chrono it loses alot of time (I ran chrono for 30 minutes and the watch lost 4 minutes). But outside of running the chrono it keeps great time at +5s/day. So don't run the chrono and you'll be fine.

2) Aesthetic wise it looks 10/10. I think it's classed as one of the super reps in the old NWBIG list (which is outdated). I haven't handled gen directly but I have seen gen and I could not tell the difference. I know the blue version has an issue with ZF where in some lighting it looks purple - which is why I went for black.

3) I would recommend getting the bracelet version. And then asking to get the rep leather strap as well (for the buckle). But the rep leather strap is horrible as per most rep straps. The rep bracelet is pretty nice and the on the fly adjustment works as per gen. The method to take out links is also per gen, although it's quite fiddly on the rep and it's recommended to go slow and gentle and not hard. You can pretty much break a link if you press the two buttons hrd.

4) The date is not recessed. This "sunken" date only occurs on non original configuration 7750s (so 7750s modified subdial layout). So don't worry about that.

5) Servicing, I know alot of watch makers won't touch the A7750. Honestly it may be better to swap to a gen ETA - although the caveat to this is you need to find gen hands or swap one of the pinions. The "seconds" hand on the rep doesn't fit the gen ETA or something. I don't remeber but there's threads about this.

I wear it occasionally, probably once or twice a month, it's not "large" but it is extremely thick due to the iron cage and 7750 automatic movement. It's a little heavy too.

Basically it's aesthetically 10/10. Movement is shoddy don't run the chrono. It's cheap at $350 so don't expect wonders either.

Oh and one more thing. Don't go crazy with the screw down crown. It's a weak point in the ZF replica. Do the counter clock wise trick and don't feel the need to crank it all the way down.

Yes, I have the BP and am careful about this was well. I this this is also a 10/10 replica — except that the power reserve is 70-hours and not 7-days. But, you would have to stare at it for 12-hours for it to be a true tell.

Thank you! Really helpful. What I am thinking now is to throw down the $350 and see how I like it for a couple months. If I don’t then maybe I’ll flip it. If I really like it maybe I’ll invest the extra $400-500 for a gen movement (and hands … I’ll search for that thread).

While I agree that is a nice looking bracelet, I have big wrists and if it doesn’t fit, I’m expecting it to be near impossible to source extra links.

I have the ZF petit prince. It is fabulous and wear well as am every day watch. except I'm scared to death of the movement dying. I still hope to find a repair guy that can install an eta 7750 movement. otherwise super watch for the money

Got my 3777 on bracelet yesterday, I can confirm that movement is a bit weak point of this watch (A7750 in my Ulysse Nardin that is 15 years old is much more "firm"), but overall impression is very good, quality of watch and bracelet finish is great

The feelings when you adjust the time or day/date are very light, you can't feel almost any tension. When you reset the chrono, it resets on backway of the button, not when pushed and it feels a bit strange

I have recently acquired one of these and was going to install Gen dial and hands.. the prices of the Gen dial and hands brand new in blister are getting ridiculous and if you going to do the eta 7750 swap for the cost you may as well fork out a little extra and buy a second hand genuine 3777.

The crystal apparently is “Swiss standards AR coating” it looks very good but scratches or marks pretty easily.. not as durable as other rep AR’s I’ve seen in the past.

Bracelet is nice but push pin release buttons get jammed in and pins hard to remove on some links.

Try sourcing the extra links when you order the watch.

I love my petit Prince. I would really like to install genuine movement . Need to find hands and someone capable .
Look on RWI to find someone in your country. Almost all mods and repairs are done via shipping the watch unless you are in China. I have done this several times without any issues. It takes a while. While you wait order another watch
