Yepp... You do.
What were you thinking wearing your rep into the AD, knowing that you were going to try on watches and then expose your rep??
A meaner person than me would ask "was he thinking at all?" Fortunately I am not mean.

Sometimes I have the impression that people that carry reps into AD stores try to outsmart them.

Guys, it's not like the OP robbed the AD while wearing a Canal St Submariner. Lighten up a little. Enough of the dog pile on the noob routine.

Matt, wearing a rep into an AD brings unwanted attention to our little hobby. Better to enjoy them outside of a retail store. If you want to go in and try something on, slip it into your pocket. Admittedly there is a bit of a thrill and curiosity, "will they know" type thing, but it's not worth the risk in the end. Chalk it up to lesson learned.

Welcome to the forum, btw!

if I was to wear a rep into one of my favorite window shopping AD's (rolex panerai) or a nice vintage preowned shop, I would be a total dumbass.
on the other hand wearing it into one of the countless omega or tag dealers wouldn't bother me the slightest.... thaty kindda shop normally has a couple of girls who shoot in ear piercings, and a guy who wishes he knew something about watches.

by not wearing a rep into a AD, I mean a serious shop, most of the mall AD's dont know a watch winder from a blender.

I reckon the chance of fooling a sales person in an AD is zero in a serious shop, but it could be possible in the mentioned shop.

A rep watch will have its makers name engraved onto the watch face/crystal by laser, no more than micromilimeters in size and invisible to the naked eye.

No Watch dealer will ever say 'I like your watch mate I shall invest in the same make at a future point in time'. This watch dealer seems to lack class, if he even exists at all.

If that is true, then why can I see the crown in my GMT crystal from 3 feet away?

Welcome to RWI! The guys did razz ya a bit to hard, down boys!

Besides, I try and wear my canal street reps into AD's at least twice a day, mostly the gold ones with diamonds all over, and I always wear overalls with no shirt and a pair of converse all star tennis shoes I have been wearing to mow the lawn with for the past ten years, in an effort not to draw attention to myself I also refrain from combing my hair. Then I always insist on trying on the most expensive watch in the place.

No posting reps on gen forums, and no giving AD's your reps to see if they can figure out if it is gen or not!

Do they have a satellite chip as well so the Chinese secret service knows where you are and can listen in on your conversations?
