Alpha Watches, opinions??

Hey guys, I've been seeing a particular homage pop up on occasion on some sites. They're essentially blatant rolex homages but they just have a cursive "a" as their logo. They're called Alpha. They have a ton of omega and rolex homages from what I've seen. Can anyone vouch for these watches? They seem to be well built, and they're only 100-200 bucks (that jap movement game strong), and they just seem nice. Curious if anyone can attest to the quality of them. Thanks!

I had an Alpha GMT. The movement was a pain in the ass from day one.

I have an alpha planet ocean and alpha daytona silver dial with the blue subdials. The daytona is great with excellent finishing except the area between the lugs when the bracelet is off and a strap is on. The bracelet looks good but gave me a rash every time I wore it so I put it on a watchadoo or a strap. It looks and feels great and easily compares to any other watch I have. As for the alpha planet ocean, it's pretty good. The bracelet on that is ok. The case is pretty good and the crown screws in very smoothly and easily and you can feel it snug up against the gasket. Pretty darn nice watch for the money though mine had a few very tiny smudges on the inside of the crystal but I can't see them too much and only under certain lighting. For the price they're great and even at the current daytona prices I'd pick one up. I got mine for 117.00 with a display back when there was a usa alpha site before it went out of business. I actually wondered about getting a rep just for the bracelet and putting it on the alpha I like it that much. As far as size it's 48mm lug to lug, 39mm case and 14.5 thick as measured by calipers.

I've got a red dial alpha newman. I wore it twice and the plexi crystal cracked (didn't hit the watch on anything). I like the watch, but don't know how I'm going to get a replacement crystal.

They are all made in China. The movement they have is a clone of a Citizen [Miyota based] movement also made in China. Hence, we cant really call it a Japanese movement, but a copy. The parts are slightly off from a Gen Miyota movement to skip off patents. So they can be sold 'anywhere'. Not bad for the money. Some can be quite nice. Some, so & so.

I've had two. They're not bad. However, for about the same money, or a little more, you can get yourself a nice Japanese made Seiko 5 which, to me at least (and I am a complete sucker for Seiko, so bear that in mind when I talk about them!), just feel better built, have really, really good attention to detail on the case, and their genuine movements are rock solid and proven.

The Seikos don't go for the homage look, though - they've their own designs.

Had an Alpha "Paul Newman" chrono - fastest watch I've EVER gotten rid of! Aside for the "cheap" feel, the chrono functions were not "correct". I knew that going in, but after I got it, it bothered the crap outta me! Sold it to a buddy that had (and sold) a real Paul Newman Daytona that he bought new and SOLD a few years later - don't you think he kicks himself in the ass EVERY single DAY for THAT sale?!

I bought the pepsi GMT back in 2007. It looked very good for the price and worked fine for a couple of years. The movement stopped working after a while.
I guess you get what you pay for...
