Yup payment made through ali ex for the lv porto jour. Paid USD 139 for it. Way cheaper than old cobbler. She'll send me qc pics for my go ahead before shipping. Pretty good service imo but pretty hard to reach her.

Will attach qc pics once I get a hold of them.

I just emailed my Optometrist's office and they had it on file. Most should.

You shouldn't do it yourself. Get professional help. Any optometrist or good prescription glass store should be able to help.

Yes it is, any place that examines and dispenses won't give you it. The Dr won't measure it and the dispenser won't because you haven't bought anything from them. They are very worried about online sites. Bigger chains are saying you need an eye to lense distance also now. Because the PD is actually easy for someone to measure on you with a ruler.

It's really easy to do by yourself. Position yourself in front of a mirror and place the end of a metric rule over one pupil. Close one eye and position your thumbnail on the rule at the other pupil. Retest a couple times.

Probably more accurate than having someone else doing it.

Pd is not hard to do on your own. Lots of support online to do it.

More optometrists and opticians are jerks and don't give out the pd number unless you are buying glasses from them. That's the truth.

Guys, just wanted to give the update on the Persol 714 replicas. So I bough lenses, couldn't seem to put them in. I took them to LensCrafters, and they put them in for FREE. Fit perfect. I even played dumb and told the guy ahead of time, "not sure if these are real" Well when he finished he told me " just so you know, these are real Persols" Ha ha.

FWIW, I got my PD on my scrip printout every time I bought glasses here in Japan. Once when I needed the scrip recently to order glasses online, I walked in, gave them my old glasses, asked them to measure the scrip, and they did. The PD wasn't included, so I asked them to write it for me, and they did.

tl;dr: Never hurts to ask.

Edit: While we're talking about glasses, has anyone found a store on AliExpress that can do the blue light filter lenses? I've asked the two stores on the spreadsheet and neither can do it, which is strange because G-Forest includes them in the actual store listing.

Edit 2: Actually, maybe G-Forest only does the complete glasses for those and can't make custom lenses... hm.

Take a marker, wear your glasses, go to the mirror, close one eye and use the marker to put a dot on your lens at the center of your pupil, repeat with the other eye. Remove your glasses and measure the distance between the 2 dots. PD achieved.

The recommended way is to get a friend to measure them 5 times and take an average. Make sure you focus into the distance when measuring them, not at the tape measure or the persons face.

What I did was take a high quality zoomed in photo from a distance, this is more accurate if you have the setup/no friends/don't trust your wife.

Who has bought prescription glasses from AE? I saw the link in the spreadsheet but don't understand how to order the prescription lenses. I see the frames but not the lenses.
