AHW's 1000th post--about six of which are about watches

Everyone seems to celebrate their 1000th post, and I've decided that I want to take this as an opportunity to let everyone know how much I've appreciated you giving me a "home" on this forum. When I first found RWI, completely by sheer dumb luck, I had intended to do what a lot of people seem to be after: find the answer to the one or two questions I had and then go on with life.

But I was fortunate in my first few posts to have been answered by a number of people to whom I took an instant liking, and who remain my favorites to this day. I discovered that the forum is filled with members who are knowledgeable and clever, generous in sharing their wisdom and experience, passionate in their interests, highly entertaining, and happy to provide commentary on just about anything (mostly unusual erotica but I'm not picky). I got hooked early on and I haven't looked back since.

I know that most of my posts have been a waste of bandwidth for most of the true watch connoisseurs. Fortunately, no one reads my posts looking for watch enlightenment, so they don't get disappointed anymore, and it doesn't surprise anyone by now that I don't actually own a (functioning) rep watch. So why hasn't RWI been able to get rid of me?

Well, I've met a large number of people I honestly respect and admire. And whose company I tremendously enjoy. I remember mentioning it early on, when it was just an impression, but since then, I've seen multiple examples of this--the people around here are just classy, decent people (well, a lot of you anyway). There's more than one instance of each of these, so I hope that no one feels self-conscious, but I've seen people give away every watch portion from band links to entire timepieces for no other reason than out of generosity and camaraderie. I've read post after post after post where people share praise, admiration, and thanks for the others they've met here. I've seen people enter raffles and contests and then give away their prizes because they've already won something before and want to share the good fortune. I've seen people devote hours and hours of their own personal time to raise money for the less fortunate and to educate the less experienced. And I've seen an administrative team who, despite having lives of their own (or at least I'm making this assumption), prowl this forum tirelessly in seach of lost sheep to save.

Maybe some of you don't find this so unusual. Maybe I'm just jaded from years of real life. But where I work, I see a lot of people who are not necessarily at their best. This I expect. But then I have coworkers, who, despite having good intentions when they got into this line of work (I hope), have become cynical and have learned to mock others, presumably as a way to cope. Elsewhere, it seems that I'm always seeing or reading about those who are trying to benefit themselves at the expense of others. So sadly, this world is not rife with populations of people who are trying to give and share what they have, and with humility and good humor. By contrast, here, when the occasional person (usually someone who hasn't been around long enough to know better) raises some plot to take advantage of someone else, even if it seems justified, he is immediately pounced upon by multiple others until he realizes under no uncertain terms that this is completely unacceptable. You can see how this would be a refreshing change from the rest of the world.

Finally, out of all of these fantastic people, I've isolated a handful that stand out among the rest that I am proud to consider friends.

And there are a very select number of whom I would not trade for anyone in the world.

All of you know who you are.

Whether or not one actually collects replica watches, RWI is still the best forum out there. (you don't have to adopt that as your official slogan if you don't want to) :)

Love, ahw676

My dearest AHW. You give far more than you realise and much more than you could ever take. You brought a breath of freash air into RWI and continue to add a dimension that has been missing. Without you we would not have had an extensive grounding in girl/squid sex for starters :)
Without you seanf would be just another midget loving mod. Without you 7th would have no purpose in life. You bring light to the Dark Side and for that we are enernaly gratefull. Oh, and would someone find this lady a working rep please? I'ts embarasing that one of our most loved members is repless.
Mat you be arround for another ten thousand posts. Other wise sean is gunna need someone else to pick on!

Best regards, Col.

BTW, we got another lady mamber to bolster your ranks. Welcome to sleeb. By my count that's four. You still retain the honour of sole Asain chicky tho AFIK.

My dearest AHW. You give far more than you realise and much more than you could ever take.

Oh, crap. Did you just meet seanf yesterday?

I'm just going to pray that he doesn't read that. :)

You, my dear, are a dirty little girl with a dirty little mind. One of the reasons we love you.

And no, I met up with Offshore yesterday. I would need a much beter reason to fly to the States than a meeting with that midget loveing (insert favorite term of endearment here ). Now, if you're free that's a different story entirly.

Re: AHW's 1000'th post--about six of which are about watches

1000!!!

Ahw: I honestly believe I may have, over time, read all 1000 posts... and they've been unmatched in wit... heck, even SeanF, who can hold his own, seems to have given up... who's next?

Now, I'll be honest... just like we all do (well... I'm assuming) when we meet new people, new animals, and new objects , we tend to match the new with something familiar... using what we know of the familiar makes it easier to relate and understand the new, right? So, when I first started reading your posts, I quickly pictured you as Parker (Dorothy... not the skinny one from Sex &/in (?) the City)-meets-Kingston's Woman Warrior (I know, a bit stereotypical... not all Asian-Americans have similar experiences... I'm just being honest). However, you are not. First, you don't strike me as having the necessary existentialist sub-surfaced anger to be as caustic as Dorothy (Parker... not the Wizard of Oz)... so you can poke like no other, but you never offend... and that's an art! Maybe it's just that you don't drink either, who knows... I vote for more level-headed. As for the Woman Warrior, I think I sense a bit of Fa Mulan-fight-for what's-right-then-go-home-have-a-normal (if not traditional)-life... well, maybe we all do... who knows... In truth, I think you're just Ahw... and you don't cease to make RWI a bit more witty and a bit more interesting.

... In any case and before R2D4 reminds me to take my pills (and also because I have a 120lbs bone-crushing beast begging me to go play outside), I'll stop here to congratulate you and thank you for your if-not-always-rep-related-systematically-entertaining contributions... keep'em coming!!!

Best,
Para

... that's great, I indeed was shooting for a congrats-&-give-us-more-of-that-good-stuff but my dog was giving me the it's-sunny-out-let's-get-the-fuck-out-and-play look... and he never has to tell me that twice; so it was written under, well, pressure!

Re: AHW's 1000'th post--about six of which are about watches

As many of you may know, AH and I spar and banter and threaten to do all sorts of vile and unpleasant things to one another. But in all seriousness, AH is not only one of my very favorite members, she is one of the truly great things about RWI. RWI is nominally a forum about replica watches. But, as anyone who has been here for any length of time can attest, it is much, much more than that. For many of us, it's a community and a home.

I've been lucky enough to run the whole spectrum-- new member, VIP, Moderator, and then finally (much to LoS' regret and chagrin) Admin. And I didn't make that journey just because I really love illegal watches put together by 7 year olds in the basement of an apartment building. I did it because I love the people on the forum. And as one of the funniest and wittiest people I've ever known, AH is exactly the type of member that makes RWI what it is today. And I'm honored and proud to be a part of a forum where someone like AH can be welcomed and embraced.

Now if she would only buy a SINGLE watch.....

Hey, Fakey, not that I don't love everything about you, but do you think that for your next official RWI glossary, you could, say, give us some explanations for your posts when it looks like you might have included only one out of every three words you'd meant to say? :)

Thanks, Para, and thank you especially for clarifying later that this was your dog, and not your lovely wife. Because the visuals were kind of, well, weird. :)

Wow. Gotta tell you, seanf. That post made me more nervous than all of the ones where you threaten to do unspeakable things to me. And then I thought, maybe you just had a few too many martinis for lunch.

AND THEN...I realized the truth. This is actually just par for the course. So, while I acknowledge that that was an unprecedented and clever move on your part, I will not be tricked, wheedled, cajoled, nor bribed into sending you nekkid pictures.

But I admire your tenacity all the same.
