I'm done here, the forum doesn't need another Pugwash-bashing thread. If you're truly interested in debating the point, let's find somewhere else to do it.

I do not think this is a "poor pugwash, everyone hates him" moment.

You put your neck on the block when you made a political statement in the first reply to a non-political thread. If you had confined yourself to comments about guns to buy (the topic) instead of the world according to pugwash (not the topic) no one would have said a word.

..actually I can thank Pugwash. He was first to respond and even though his views may differ from most responders he was the first to recommend I get the HK 9mm and that gun is tops on the list.. :) :) I do my best to be pro-actively unemotional while maintaining my personal views on hot potatoe issues...I received great information here now maybe this thread will just fade into the sunset like..

This is truly a policital battle which no one wins. Kinda like our rulers that argue for hours trying to make decisiions on gun control. My last 2 cents worth.

London's Crime Wave

2/27/2007

England banned handgun ownership ten years ago. Today London is reaping the bloody harvest of unbridled crime we predicted all along, with rates of violent crime that make the U.S. look like Disneyland.

Fearless criminals know residents are defenseless, so the attacks escalate without mercy and without pause. Each day brings new reports of more murders, more robberies, more assaults  and fewer arrests.

It's a huge story, so profound and so vindicating of the NRA that you'll never see it in mainstream media.

According to the British government, the violent crime rate in the London area is 3,400 per 100,000. The violent crime rate in Washington, D.C., one of our most crime-ridden cities, is 1,459 per 100,000.

That's right. London, England, has more than twice the violent crime of our own crime capital.

What's worse, the British government's reaction would be comical if the consequences weren't so horrible.

Prime Minister Tony Blair is denying that there's a problem. While the Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, says London's most recent murder is evidence that British society is "broken," Blair says, "This tragedy is not a metaphor for the state of British society, still less for the state of British youth today, the huge majority of whom, including in this part of London, are responsible, law-abiding people."

Blair just doesn't get it. Of course the vast majority of British subjects are law-abiding people. But they're also helpless victims. The decade-long gun ban has only made things worse. Plus, most criminals get off with incredibly light sentences.

While London's law-abiding keep seeing the same released thugs on the streets, Tony Blair and company keep making the same excuses. Their failed policies are costing countless lives.

Every day Blair spends in denial, society breaks down a little more. How long before it can't be fixed at any cost?

The AC-130 Spectre Gunship

Spectre patch is the best. Two vultures on a branch with one turned to the other and the quote is : "Patience my ass, I'm gonna kill something"

awww...

everyone knows that banning guns brings peace and contentment..

in theory....

for some reason the law abiding seem to be the only ones who obey

the laws..

strange...

in the U.S., violent crime is lowest where there are liberal concealed carry permits..

now, that just does not make sense..

for everyone knows that it is guns that are evil... not people...

this all has been kicked into the ground and into dust many times..

and at the end of it all it remains a 'tochy feely' issue for some..

Isn't all so very grand! Yes, and that is perhaps because what does the

reality have to do with anything at all...

lol

Glad it's TAME so far.

I would say "vote for no guns" but that requires a Dr. Doom presence to eliminate EVERY gun in the US... like godlike powers to just make them vanish. Then arm people with Mace.

But since that's unlikely and since there are areas in Mississippi that look worse than bombarded iraq, most buy a gun there for protection.

When i went to Optometry school in Memphis, TN, i stood there watching a guy break into civic - BROAD DAYLIGHT... i look to my left and asked the security guard if he was gonna do anything? there are tons of witnesses around? He just said "i'll call the police."

I got mugged there too... wonderful feeling... i swear, parts of US sucks. crime rate is friggin skyrocket high with corrupt police left and right. There are parts of town i just rapidly drive through and hope nothing happens.

@cybee: you should goto a shooting range, rent guns, try em out. I think you'll like the glock which fills your reqs for concealment/stopping.

...I know what you mean. Whether I adhere to stop signs depends on where I'm driving. I redefine the Calif. stop, more like Calif. floor it and get outta there. Thank for the good advice though i was looking forward to the super soaker. Cheaper ammo... :D
