As a new forum member, do you guys have any advise on getting rid of scratches on the crystal - mineral glass vs sapphire? Also what about scratches on the AR coating? Thanks.

Hi there,

1.) Use a soft material (eg. rubber pad) as the base.
2.) Place on watch on top facing you.
3.) Put some toothpaste on the watch crystal
4.) Get a wet towel and press on the toothpaste and start rotate your finger in circular motion
5.) Wash off the toothpaste and you'll see some improvement.
6.) If unsatisfy, repeat the steps again until the scratches disappear.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Are there other common household polish agents to use?

To polish glass, the polishing compound must be harder than the glass itself..

http://www.watchpolishing.com/polishingglass.htm

any amount of polishing will remove the AR from a coated surface..

if scratches are light, simichrome, toothpaste, brasso, etc. should work with patience..

a new crystal is always an option..

Good Luck!

btw, polywatch is superb for acrylic crystals
