I’ve never measured my gen, but have read that Patek only takes into account actual case, and not the crystals, which make the 3mm difference.

8.52 without crystal, 8.8-8.9 with crystal, watches are like that, Patek doesn't exactly tell you if they measured with or without crystal? If you are Patek and marketing, 9mm sounds very unsexy compared to 8.5mm, it's all marketing gimmicks.

Bro help me, why did you choose OME over PPF? and what mods are you getting done?

I know it's not perfect and I may get some mods done later this year, the two main features I wanted from the OME version were the lug shape and the moon disk (which is a lot better than the PPF version, even the V4+).

When I get around to it, I may well get the pinion mod, some reluming and possibly the end links. Otherwise it's good enough for the moment.

I got it from amowatch as mentioned before. Anyway i did a side by side comparison with a gen 5712, the movement finishing is very very close after i get my watchmaker to service and clean the movement. I cannot post the picture here to be fair the gen isnt my watch. The pinion etc are very nice, as below is a comparison between mine and gen

This looks great. Hope it’s reliable. I have seen modders charge $1500 just to engrave PPF movement + install 22k gold rotor. Here is quote from one of the TDs for 5167 with 324 movement

Upgrade to Engraved Movement with refinished plates - usd$750
Upgrade to custom CNC 22K gold rotor - usd$1100

But I have yet to hear any positive long term reliability report on a Rep free sprung movement.

Prices definitely vary by dealer. Eg here are the prices by Hillbilly for upgrading 5712, who isn’t a TD



Laser engrave movement = 2200 ($306)
Gold sleeve and jewel = 1200 ($167)
Hide regulation arm = 4200 ($584)
22k CNC gold rotor = 4500 ($625 - seems too cheap but that’s what I got last week)

So all these upgrades add upto $1700.

Now some may say that with these upgrades PPM/ PPF (I finally don’t know the difference) gets to free sprung in terms of look but will be more reliable.

If the cnc 22k gold rotor is truly full gold $600 isn't that bad depending on its weight

I wouldn’t name one of the TD here but someone quoted me $1200 for gold rotor. Just shows the disparity in price. I am all for paying for quality. But that kind of over-charging doesn’t hold up in my view.

That’s what it seems like Given it has higher weight.

Again the purpose wasn’t to criticize a TD But more to point out disparities in pricing - now impossible to fully control for quality but my reference here is someone like SpongeBob. Here is pricing from a different TD here on RWI for 5712:
