i'm not too sure but i think the general consensus nowadays is that the 7750 is fairly reliable. it can benefit from a proper service which will make it even more reliable.

i think the only ones that still have issues are the ones that run seconds at 6'

Basically it's still a crapshoot. When I originally posted this they were dropping like flies. As I mentioned further into the thread a watch you buy today will have a movement in it that was made up to a year ago. And until those were gone the problem would continue. We're coming up on that year in a few months. As it stands now one of two things is happening. They are arriving dead, die very shortly thereafter, or they run fine without issue. So what this tells me is some fresh units have gotten into circulation. Now whether the newer ones are any better won't be known until more time has passed.

29J A7750 Daytona

I have had my I on a couple of 29J A7750 Daytonas, but am concerned about their durability after reading this thread. Is the 29J version of the A7750 a better choice here, or does it not even matter? As usual, you guys are great at getting out the info on stuff like this .... I really appreaciate it .. !

No problem at all and business as usual. Received 5 watches with this movement and all OK. 2 of them have low beats movement.

My Skyland Avenger v3 from d4m was received with no working chronos.

The watch has died on my 3 times.

The 1. time it startet again after 24 hours.
The 2. time it started again after 2 hours.
The 3. time has this morning, and its still dead 3 hours later. Maybe it will start again soon?

This is my first 7750 and i think its crap. I does not work properly at all.

Even if it starts again, i dodnt want a watch that startes and stopes as it feels like.

When it comes to watches i need a watch that is reliable.

This one is not.

I have 6 high beat 7750es.
Only problem has been with the IWC Portuguese sec @6. Here the problem is not really the movement itself but the modification shifting the seconds from 3 to 6.
And with a bit of luck that has been solved now.
If you have problems as descriped above, a service will possibly solve the issue.

Service it 3 fingers, those are reliable if you service it!

This watch is 3 weeks old!!! It should not need service allready!?

1. I live in Norway where no one will service a rep
2. If i could find a watchguy to service it, the cost will be much higher than the value of a new watch.

So what to do?

Send it to China for service?

7750 reps should be serviced right away if you intend to keep it working for awhile but yes, for the amount of a service you probably could go and buy another rep. its a personal decision.

you kind of have to appreciate the working environment and conditions that these watches and movements are assembled in. its not exactly an uber clean environment. dirt and crap is not uncommon inside the case with the movement. might not even be greased and oiled. thats why a service is recommended to prolong the life and reliability of the movement. its not illogical when you think about it that way and hey, its still cheaper than buying the gen right?

i've paid a watch smith $270 AUD to service and pressure test/water proof my rep and to replace the bezel with a gen + dw swap. you might think i'm crazy but hey, maybe i am!

Anybody with a slight knowledge of 7750s would recommend service right away. Your watch is new, but it has been assembled in conditions you would refuse to take a dump in.
That is one of the reasons why I would never recommend a 7750 mov, specially if you don't have a friendly watchsmith to rely on.
Good luck.

mw you arent crazy, you just love that watch. And yeah some may say it has been expensive, but I am sure the same guys would eat their words if they saw you happily swimming with an awesome watch on your wrist. ;)

I got 3 daytona sec@6 models. 1 is 1.5 years running strong. The other 2 are going on 7 months & running great. All were cleaned & lubed, serviced. I have bought 3 extra mvnt. knowing that 1 day they may go bad. What is the average time when these mvnt. explode?

I'm trying to understand all of this. If a A7750 stops working does that mean that it is "actually damaged" and that having it serviced at that point won't fix the problem? I know nothing about movements, but it doesn't seem like any real damage occurs when a watch just stops ticking. Certainly, it's not like having a timing chain break on a car and the pistons and valves colliding! If no real damage is done, why not just wait until the watch stops working or has been in service for a couple of years to have it serviced? Now read my signature.

Wow, you guys have the worst luck with reps! The only A7750 that has given me problems was when I screwed up the keyless by accident while removing the crown, otherwise zero problems with all of the Asian Chronos I have.

They just started a Poll at RepGeek and it seems about 1/3 of those posted have issues with 7750 chronos and 50/50 with non chrono versions

I need some good luck soon my last three watches were not to good the best one was the wrong model and that was giving me fits getting it running last night.....

I'm about ready to stop buying.....

Glad you found someone mate! Giving one a clean and oil is not at all hard for a watchsmith. It's when something goes wrong that the fun starts. Parts are allmost impossible to source for these.

Cousins.co.uk sell Asian 7750 for under £80. I suspect that movements sold by them have had some QC.

I am charged about £100 for a service by the watchsmith.

That being the case I would recommend not to do a pre-emptive service. Some will work with not problems at all, some only for some time.

But when that time comes I will be better off with a new movement from a supplier whom I have a comeback to.
