A new MBW or no MBW at all???

I just received this watch yesterday from an outstanding gentleman of the forums. Let me preface this by saying that in no way shape or form do I wish for the results of this inquiry to reflect poorly upon him. He was so kind as to cross ship the watch to me (I sent him a money order and he shipped the watch the same day, and we received payment and watch the next day). He had recently purchased the watch from another forum person and is really fairly new to the replica scene... So AGAIN, this inquiry is merely for mine (and others) education.
The watch I received was to be an MBW case with MBW bracelet with Noob dial and Noob datewheel and genuine Swiss Eta movement... Cant go wrong with this combo for $200!!!
I have had the MBW 16610 before, as well as a 16613 and numerous 1665 and 1680's. This one has me stumped. It is absolutely a noob dial and date wheel. It is absolutely a genuine Swiss eta movement, but the case is odd. FIrst it is has the correct ROLEX spelling (not Polex). Second, I have never seen reference to this serial number being an MBW, the case back is stamped with the really bad 750/18kt markings and the 16600 ref number. The bracelet is not like any MBW Ive seen except for the fact it has solid midlinks. All engraving is correct including the reference numbers on the end links, clasp and inside the SEL. The bezel is retained by the typical hexagonal wire spring and not the flat washer and a gen insert doesnt even come close to fitting. I could not get the crystal retaining ring off at all...
I am attaching pictures of the watch, and would like anyone who could confirm this as a different MBW, or let me know what exactly it is. I have removed the cyclops in the pics, and may/may not put it back on... I kinda like the look of the crystal without it (yes, Im a SD whore!).
Thanks everyone, and AGAIN... the seller has already offered to send my USPS money order back to me and I turned him down. The watch is nice, I would just like to know what it is!

Good grief. I'm done fighting the MBW fallacy. Looks like you have a pretty nice looking watch there. No one is going to see the things you mentioned. If it is running good then you got a nice deal.

Fakemaster, I understand that you dont care to fight the MBW battle... And I was not trying to create a bad situation. Just looking for someone more knowledgeable than I to say YES or NO.

I always want to help. I just know it will start a tit for tat thing. And I am tired of hearing about how I'm being called names by people in PMs because I'm telling it like it is. hurting their sales. Aw screw em'. I have one of those here. Your watch is one of the ones that is being sold as an MBW. Unfortunately Maria and her original run of watches, much like the Noobmariner are long since gone. It is a generational descendant with similar specs that is being sold from the same center but is not the same watch. That doesn't make it a bad piece. It's just not a true MBW unless it was made during the run from four years ago or whenever the hell it was.

Thank you VERY MUCH fakemaster... In all honesty, I like the watch alot and after a few small mods Im sure it will be even better.
I am actually pleased with the correct spelling of Rolex, the almost invisible crown on the crystal and the correct markings on the bracelet. The SEL end links are about the best Ive seen.
Again, I appreciate the info and hope that your helping me doesnt result in angry emails from people trying to be asses!

Even the old 'modern' Rolex models that wers sold by George, Luckyyy, Vintaga and the like weren't "really" MBW watches. I believe they were basically derived from the very same models Eddie Lee sold as Taiwan Best. As Fakemaster said it absolutely doesn't make your watch (or the old ones) bad whatsoever- but the general consensus was that MBW's vintage models were the ones that were really the models you couldn't obtain anywhere else (at the time).
There are of course exceptions- the very first LV 16610's Maria put out actually had genuine Rolex Service Center marked crystals installed for instance. Other than some of the idiosyncrasies, myth, and hype surrounding these watches they didn't seem to live up to their name, for the most part.
But as for this sub- hell a genuine Swiss ETA is hard enough to get these days and this watch looks great. With a little work you will have a fabulous looking sub! Congrats on the buy! :D

Just for clarification: Maria (real name is Paul btw) never produced anything. He simply purchased the watches at the shop now commonly known as mbk/mbw shop. George is/was working for Maria as his distributor in Europe. Luckyyy and Vintaga were two more names used by Maria to sell and ultimately scam buyers.

The watch stall/shop that sells/makes MBW watches is called "Nah-Piek" and is located on GROUND FLOOR of MBK shopping center in downtown Bangkok!

I've got four of Maria's watches and they are superb after all these years. The follow ups don't seem to have the accuracy details but are still fine watches. For $200 you got a steal. The "newer" MBW's are still good, just not as good....and they were $400+ back then.

Wear it well.

Seventh, I am going there for a vacation and will sure pick up some watches... so stay tuned till then... The only problem is that I just received a letter to go back to the army in june (All Singaporean have to serve compulsory National Service, Hard to explain here) so I am delaying my vacation a little, plus it is not very safe in bangkok at the moment given the political crisis. So, if you can wait till june or july... I'll get watches for you!!
