Very deceptive photos, they do not wear the watch in the correct place, which is the wrist, they wear it in the middle of the forearm.
For a slim wrist 47mm it's excessive. It also depends on whether your wrist is flat or rounded.

Nevertheless: I completely agree. Anyway, you wear a watch for you and because you like it, not because anyone else has to like it in my opinion.

Agree, but you also don't want to look like a dork and be worried that you can't pull it off having a wall clock strapped to your wrist. Besides, if you can't pull it off then more people will quiz you about it too.

The OP was specifically asking about a SubM which at 47mm are quite chunky, and new models rather toy like in apperance. Personally, if I had small wrists and wanted 47mm then I would rather opt for a Radiomir or a 127 as the case is slimmer or just get a 42mm SubM. Either that or just wear it with a really thick winter coat.

Does anyone know or could give me the lug to lug size of a 47mm submersible?

In the pics here I've got a 46mm Galaxy S3 watch, so pulling the 47mm may not seem impossible but the lug to lug size may be a different story altogether

I didn't know the Panerai ref when I downloaded it (was the only one I could find at the time) but it sure does look like the 252. The GMT works as the secs though with the always on display mode

That looks good (aside from the color of the indices/fonts which might just be the angle of the shot). I'm reminded of making some custom dials for my Android desktop. :) Oh, by the way, I remembered your PM and got to actually measuring 3 reps (KW PAM389, KW PAM382 and no-name factory PAM615). The actual lug-to-lug measurement is 56.5mm for the KW watches, 57.5mm for the no-name factory PAM.
