I played the Michigan State Fair with The Yardbirds

The Yardbirds played Michigan State Fair in Detroit, MI, where Dick Clark made an appearance to check in with his Caravan of Stars! This gave me an opportunity to meet Andy Warhol again, who had come to the fair to present the Velvet Underground.

I saw Aerosmith in Buenos Aires

Having come from Australia, I arrived in Argentina at the beautiful city of Buenos Aires to continue more press for the Unledded project. That evening I went to see my old friends Aerosmith at the Vélez Sarsfield Athletic Club on their 'Get a Grip' tour. I got to re-affirm what a privilege it is to be able to play to an audience that passionate about music. Buenos Aires rocks in that respect. I was to experience this for myself when I played this city with Page and Plant on the No Quarter project in January 1996.

'Led Zeppelin IV' Re-Enters Billboard Top 200

Just weeks after the album celebrated it's 40th anniversary, Led Zeppelin's untitled fourth album -- usually known as Led Zeppelin IV -- has re-entered the Billboard Top 200 for the first time since 1987.
This past week, Zeppelin 4 sold just over 3,600 copies to land at No. 166 on the charts.
The album has sold over 23 million copies worldwide since its release 40 years ago this month.

I played Wembley Empire Pool with Led Zeppelin

Led Zeppelin played the Electric Magic concert at Wembley Empire Pool in London. I went out front to hear Maggie Bells' Stone the Crows when it became apparent that the pool was frozen for an up and coming event and the seated audience were in danger of contracting frost bite. There followed a contest between Peter Grant and union officials about heating. When we played it was a foot stomping set.

I played at the Hummingbird, Birmingham with Outrider

On this day in 1988, I played the Hummingbird on the Outrider tour in Birmingham - a local gig for Jason Bonham. The Leon Russell / BB King song 'Hummingbird' was on the Outrider album.

I played the Rock Garden, London with Roy Harper

On this day in 1984, I played the Rock Garden with Roy Harper, in what was the recently opened Covent Garden complex in London. Roy had given me an Ovation 1984 model and I played this guitar with him on the set.
Ten years later on the same day, after a day of various radio, TV and print interviews, Robert Plant and I were scheduled to appear on Ipanema Beach for a showing of Unledded. Unfortunately, the security was so wobbly, we pulled out. It was quite ironic the following day to see one of the newspapers Jornal Do Brasil accidentally referring to the No Quarter project as 'No Quartet'.

I play the Hammersmith Odeon with Outrider

Today the Outrider tour passed through London at the Hammersmith Odeon. The building dates back to 1932 in the classic art deco style of that period for prominent cinema theatres; but now a firm favourite of many groups to play. It was a sympathetic venue for this kind of show. It has been named Labatt's Apollo, Carling Apollo, Hammersmith Apollo, the HMV Apollo. No matter what it is called, it will always be a bastion of rock and roll venues.

I attended a fundraiser in Rio for TASK Brazil
