I played Madison Square Gardens with Led Zeppelin

The popular dogs of the evening and best in show. Good to be alive in 1975.

I received a Grammy for ‘Please Read the Letter’

On this day in 2009, I received a Grammy for ‘Please Read the Letter’ - a song written with Robert Plant for the Walking into Clarksdale album. But it was the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss version that achieved critical acclaim from the highly successful album, Raising Sand.

Very cool B...Just a heads up, Best Buy has Mothership LP box set for 39.99 free ship. Not sure if it's available in the UK, but that's an awesome deal.

Lot of catching up for me here :ZoSo:.
Still bloody awesome my friend!!!

Genesis Star Posed As A Roadie at Led Zeppelin Reunion Gig

02/08/2012
.(Rock News Desk) Former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett has revealed how he ligged his way into the 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion show – by pretending to be Yes bassist Chris Squire's roadie. And he admits he feels the need to rehearse more often as he gets older.
"I was at the Led Zep reunion gig at the O2 and it was incredibly loud. Chris Squire was doing a thing with Keith Emerson there that night and I only got in by being Chris's roadie. I just picked up his bass and walked in with him. But that gig was so loud. I dare say on stage they were all wearing in-ear monotirs, but the guy mixing out front gave us an idea of what that band were all about. Instant thunder - the volume added to the mythology of the band."

I played with Paul Weller's band at the Teenage Cancer Trust

I was a guest of Teenage Cancer Trust with Paul Weller’s band. I played Dazed and Confused as an instrumental and had a short rehearsal slot with his band a few days prior. I wanted to do the version from Led Zeppelin I, I took a deep intake of breath when I realised that they had never ever heard it before, let alone played it. I taught them the structure as best I could and we finished the rehearsal with them promising to listen to the album. They did a really good job on the night.
I have great admiration for Paul Weller and especially his solo work. He is a powerful performer and one of England’s treasures.

He's a bit of a judgemental prick IMO, but his music isn't horrible.

I agree, he's arrogant to go with it.....thinks he belongs with the greats, when he doesn't! Pulls off a good gig though in all fairness.

I played Memphis State University with Led Zeppelin

tumblr_lz5ksgeNtW1qmle2jo1_500.jpg

This is it! The band were to play at Memphis – the cradle of blues, rockabilly, and the genius Sam Phillips. This was it, a dream come true for me to visit the mecca of music. We were awarded the key to the city because the concert had sold out in record time and I don’t believe the mayor was aware that it was a rock concert. But hey – someone who sells out that fast deserves the keys to the city!
This wasn’t necessarily the best time to be touring the South: black people were still being lynched in other southern states and the man who shot the two bikers at the end of Easy Rider would get a standing ovation in movie theatres! Long hair, hippy ethics and anything askew of redneck were not welcome in places like Memphis and Nashville at that time. Just by chance, one of our road crew was taking a call of nature in the restroom when he overheard the police discussing what they had in store for the members of Led Zeppelin later that evening. After the show, we left the State University and drove overnight straight to Miami taking the keys to the city with us!

A huge +1 to that. I've missed Zo too of late. I, as well, hope that all is good.
