3K Nautilus Review

I received my 3 K Nautilus from Trusty today

The watch has the white dial. I chose white because the blue dial can almost never be right.
PP themselves have made many variations on colour and finish. The white dial is easier to replicate and 3K have done a great job on what appears to be a pre 2018 dial ( There are many greater PP experts here please correct me if I am wrong about the dials chronology)

Dial hands and print, including date wheel are excellent to the eye and even good through a loupe Date wheel seems nicely centered. The markers look well finished, corners could be better rounded, but this is only visible with a loupe. The white has a nice slightly ivory hue which lends an air of very high quality and at the same time exudes genuineness.

The case is very well finished and the brushing and polish is very gen like . Weight seems right and everything functions smoothly and feels very solid . The crystal is clear and well set and the crown sits perfectly

From the back the 324 clone movement looks superbly finished The script is laser printed rather than engraved (This has been addressed extensively in threads relating to the Aquanaut from 3K) Rotor doesn't seem noisy to me

The band feels very smooth and has the right degree of articulation. It has no sharp edges and feels very well made.
The clasp works well and is firm when closed.
The polished part closest to the watch is a few microns too big to my eye, but it isn't that obvious on the wrist.

Overall the watch is very gen like and an amazingly good replication of the original (Which I have owned in the past)

We live at an incredible time. A time where for less than $600 we can buy a rep of a watch costing 30 times as much. A watch with an almost perfectly cloned movement. Ironically a movement which due to its exactness even suffers the inherent faults of the Gen. That is to say that the second hand , due to it's remote operation can stutter slightly in certain positions.

This watch is a game changer. IMHO anyone who buys a gen in place of this is completely crazy.

The gen will give you nothing that this watch doesn't offer

It is 100% NWBIG

Nothing will ever be the same since 3k made this movement and Noob made the 4130 Not to mention some great Panerai clones from VSF.

This is the golden age of Rep watches. Enjoy and indulge

PPF V4 just popped up on InTime. I don't understand why they just cant get the crown right.

Probably because they still have thousands of wrong crowns/case and they're not gonna change it until they're out otherwise they'd just throw them away which is a financial loss

Yeah but then they are only for new buyers. No one in their sanity would change their V2 or V3 for this.

You are completely right.

... and by the way i wouldn‘t even change my stock V1 for it - but that is also because of too much sentimental value haha

the new blue V4 looks a bit better - which is worth mentioning but not the new ball bearing for the clasp... other factories would have made this by silently updating the new batch...

i really didn‘t expect this foolish strategy from a factory like ZF/PPF... gives me JF vibes lol

Nothing beats sentimental value buddy. I can give you that :D

To even stand a chance it would have to be a significant upgrade. They are blind to the crown and bezel. They haven’t seen the 3K clone movement. But yeah these upgrades are important haha

That's true. In my opinion they do no go for repeat buyers. Our community of enlightened amateurs is a very small target market compared to dozens of thousand of customers who buy because they think it looks good and are not aware of a V2, V3 and their differences. Being unaware of these changes, they will simply buy another one when the 1st one fail. So factories know that marginal improvement will not make their watch sell more, and have therefore little interest in throwing away their flawed inventory.

I contacted Jennifer as I am also interested in the piece as I think it looks very close to the gen.

https://www.horobox.com/en/review-detail/nautilus-5711-r-001-incelemesi

She clarified her comments above to mean in general PPF is considered the best rep of the 5711 over 3k and nothing about the particular finishing on this RG model on leather.

I think for the Steel model of 5711 PPF is probably better overall but I'm not sure about the rose gold model that you're looking to

Here’s my Franken for reference. Dial was $1000 and an absolute steal at the time, especially now it’s discontinued!

There’s quite a lot of delusion on this thread in regards to NWBIG. I feel the PPF and 3KF still seriously lag compared to the gen dial. They lack the depth of tones in the slight silver of the markers which can turn into the standard deep black when in lower light settings. The date wheel on the 3KF is pretty terrible. Compare my picture to any of the available reps and you’ll see big differences, maybe not visible to someone who hasn’t seen gen but they are still there.

At $500 they’re nice but you can still call them out with the DW on 3KF being an easy tell and the date window on PPF being a slightly less obvious tell.

My total build of about $1500 - now that’s not worth buying in gen and certainly shall never be sold. If I did this build today instead of 18 months ago, I’d definitely be looking at double that.

At less than half the price I think the PPF white dial makes the gen dial a moot point. The blue gen dial is still the one to get, if you can

Now it's discontinued, the value of white dials has increased 2-3x and probably will become harder to get. The PPF dial still lacks compared to gen but you can only really realise when you have both in hand.

They look pretty close to me, especially if you start asking for 2-3x the money for the gen. The cost benefit for the PPF dial only goes up at that point. The blue dial on the other hand might as well be considered discontinued because scarcity at or near retail is so high.

There was someone not so long ago in the m2m section selling pf bracelet. Otherwise I have a pf/ppf donor watch that I will let go cheaper than either stock pf or ppf watch.
