Hi all,

I recently bought a silver 36mm dial for a 36mm franken project for my girlfriend of 5 years.

She broke up with me three weeks ago, so I started with a nice project for myself:
41mm Datejust franken project.
After "finishing" this, I ended up dismantling that watch again since the VS3235 movement broke after a couple of days.

36mm Clean 126234, picked a random color and ordered it. A week later this arrived:

Last week I came across a genuine blue dial for roughly the same price I bought the silver/beige one for:

Plans:
I want to make this a light franken project.
I am not sure if I want to "upgrade" it to a VS3235 again. Since 2 of the 3 VS3235 movements died on me.
My current 126610LV is hanging in there, but showing some weird gremlins too.

I want to upgrade the crystal for a gen. one and upgrade the bezel for a Xing one.

Which color should I build first?
Always blue! Where did you find the dail ?

I’d send a vs3235 and blue dial and everything to a good smitty for servicing. Get yourself a deep crystal or gen and use the clean case and strap and buy a gen bezel. It should turn out pretty good and you won’t have much money in it.

Where the bezel from?

Pardon me for the late reply. It’s a custom bezel, bought from a local seller.

Also bought two more dials, one 36mm silver gen. dial and a matching 41mm gen. dial.
For the “ultimate” his and hers:

Well okay! I assume you take the clean case for the 41?

I am still debating on this one, a VS movement is easier to work with in terms of a datedisc for example.
I find it extremely hard to change the datedisc on a VR3235 movement, due to more securing tabs used. The VS3235 got less.

But the VS movement failed multiple times on me, while the VR only got less of a power reserve.

I compared the two cases of a 41mm Clean and a VS, and couldn't find a noticeable difference in those to be honest. I just switched movements because I had bought them both for the ultimate franken watch. But honestly, I can not notice the difference. Let alone someone from a couple of feet away.

right! Thanks for the info. I’m looking into that as well but first I need to finish the 36.

Hey, at First sorry for the broke up of your girlfriend.

Last days I ordered a DJ 36 126234 from clean factory With your mantioned movement. You said that 2 of 3 died. I thought the VS3235 is good?

Now I‘m a little bit scared.

Now I

No hard feelings, I am already dating with someone else. ;-)

Clean got the VR3235.
VSF got the VS3235.

I now have a VS3235 that is working perfect, might be some bad luck? I don't know. ;-)

I'm planning the same build, swapping the green dial for blue and getting my hands on a Gen crystal. Have you had any issues attaching the Gen crystal and gasket? Do you have any tips? Looks great!

No, I just replaced them and installed everything with basic tools, it is all plug and play!! Gen crystal gasket is little harder/stiffer.

Time for an update!

I ordered a VSF 36mm Datejust last month for it's movement. Sold almost all the parts already.
When I installed the movement in the Clean case, I noticed some dates were not aligned. *sigh*.

I was not happy with this end result and installed the VR3235 again, and now this movement was acting up... *harder sigh*

So, I Ordered a complete genuine date indicator plate and date wheel assembly to eliminate all defects and things that could go wrong. Bought this complete assembly for €400,-
Not cheap, but a new genuine small 3235 date wheel is pretty rare. And this came with a complete assembly.

It arrived today installed the genuine date plate and genuine date wheel assembly:

It is a 1:1 replacement. Really impressed how this VS3235 movement takes genuine parts.

Date wheel looked like this:
54033458426_35527c8ecf_b.jpg

It was advertised as NEW. Not happy AGAIN. *EVEN A HARDER SIGH*

So, I reinstalled the VS3235 date wheel on the genuine date plate and it was perfectly aligned.
Too bad this is how it is now and the genuine date wheel is shot.

But I was done with it. What an experience this was.

- Clean 36mm case
- Clean 36mm hands
- VS3235 movement
- VS3235 date disc
- Gen. Rolex date plate assembly
- Gen. Rolex crystal [B25-7035 // brown AR)
- Gen. Rolex dial
- Plated custom bezel, NOT Xing
