I'm looking at my next gen watch and can't make up my mind. Stop rolling your eyes!! I have more respect from you guys here than any other forum.

I'm looking at the Seamaster 300m chrono (ironically it's not chrono) vs. the planet ocean. I have had both as a rep (still currently have the PO) and like them equally. For the life of me I can't make up my mind. The wave dial of the 300 is awesome, but a PO is a PO. Ahhh!!!!!! Someone help me with some pro's and cons of each from your point of view please (keeping in mind price is not a factor). Btw, yes I want the blue if I get the 300. Pics below for reference.

Planet ocean, no doubt. It is the only omega watch that beat submariner, IMHO

hey man, thought I'd help with the reason they call it the 300 "chronometer"

chronos = time, meter = measure

so pretty much anything that measures time is a 'chronometer'...
I have both these watches (in rep form) congrats on soon adding another gen to your collection!

You have a tough decision, I don't know if there's much of a pro/con with them (maybe just the depth rating of 300 vs 600m ;) )
I would go with the PO personally, I think it is dressy enough yet casual enough for anything. To me the 300 is more of a casual watch... just my .2 cents.

Whatever you decide, wear it well!

That's a really hard choice. I have both reps too & would have a difficult time picking just one gen. I'd probably go with the SMP 300 blue wave.

BTW...

This is a really good point.

I'm not an Omega guy AT ALL, but just from looking at the 2 and a gun pointed at my head........the PO is a much better looking watch IMO.

Congrats on your new acquisition........ once acquired!

I have to ask… if you truly love both, and price is not a factor, why not both? If it has to be one, go w/the SMP since you already have a PO rep.

If you were choosing between chronographs, I would say PO, but the in the chronometer version, I like the SMP

BTW, I own both watches and the smp is the one with more wrist time.

There is the size factor. PO looks better in big wrists

Hard decision!

In my opinion the SMP is the "classic" Omega sports watch, even in blue version.
I like the look of the bracelet too.

On the other side - the PO is a modern watch which is equal to the Rolex Submariner; the SMP did never reach this position.

Apart from the gut feeling - I read some reviews about the SMP and the PO - as far as I unterstood the Reps of the SMP are full of flaws; however the PO should be one of the most flawless reps on the market.

That is a important decisional base too...

I'm expectant which watch you will choose in the end.

Bond wore both... Im a HUGE Bond fan! But the SMP came before the PO in Bond's life, so the SMP has seniority in me, so its the SMP for me! I ordered the Chronograph version ;) best of luck!

LOL, I wish I could afford both right now; I was more or less referring to the $1k difference in price tag. It's gotta be one only right now, but maybe I can get the other next year.

My PO is officially crappy now since the adhesive I used on the back of the dial to reapply one of the sticks discolored the dial around the stick. Also, I'm a fan of the 42mm since I have a small wrist, and my rep is 45.5.

I'm a massive bond fan also. The SMP is very high on my list for the same reason as you, but the PO's so so sexy and can even be worn to a black tie event. Btw, congrats on the Chrono Diver purchase!!

Worth noting that Omega released brand new PO versions at Basel, you might want to check them out... of particular interest to you might be:

I wish they'd have used a different date wheel though :(

My girlfriend would LOVE the white (and maybe I could pull it off on bracelet or mesh)!

That PO is nice, good call on the datewheel, better than white tho. As for the PO, I love it, the only thing that I have never liked are the arrow hands, they just always looked cartoony to me. But the blue on blue is bad a$$

I agree that the blue looks great, and a good mashup of the new style with the traditional SMP color scheme, but to my eyes a white datewheel makes more sense. I mocked one up:

p.s.- sorry to the OP, didn't mean to hijack...

The new ones look good, but I just checked out an older model PO with the orange numbers, and I'm REALLY feelin it.
