I am a nobbie here. I read almost everything about 2824 and 2836 movements and i really don't know which i should pick up for a datejust II. I read that 2836 has wrong crown possition but the date change exactly on 12 o' clock but 2824 has the right crown possition but date take more than an hour to change.

Which i should buy? Which accept gen parts? Which is cheaper to change with swiss eta and could fixed easier and cheaper?

Do you already have a DJ II? If so, what is currently in it?

Or are you looking to buy a new DJII and asking which movement? Those are two different sized movements with different stem placements. Case size is generally a big factor.

i had one with 2813 movement but i sold it. Now i want to buy a new one. I choose BP factory cause its more cheap and i think 904L steel of other factories a waste of money. I found Datejust II BP with 2824 and 2836 movement but i dont now which i should pick. ARF (which has the best Datejust out there) have an 2824 on them so i think that this movement will help me in the future to make a super clone if i want. But even if i want to only change an 2824 to an swiss eta is that possible and cheap?

As you've said yourself neither is perfect in a rep, and it depends on what is the most important to you - the 2824 with its correct crown height, or the fast date change of the 2836. Both Asian movements can be swapped with Swiss movements, you won't need to change anything such as hands, crown, stem etc, they are all compatible.

Personally I would choose the 2824 as the crown position is visible all the time, the date change isn't really an issue - unless you like to watch it change. You can get Swiss 2824's for about $200 if you look around.

You are the man. Please inform me some more. What the cost for an swiss eta 2836? Is there any swiss 2824 that change the date at 12? and last but not least. 200$ for a brand new or a second hand ETA?

ETA 2824 is about $180, ETA 2836 is about $230. This is for a new movement from a supply house like Otto Frei or Startimesupply. there are different grades so these prices are for the lowest grade. The TOP grade ETA 2824 date change is not as noticiable as others like the 7750. I have a number of them and the date offsets itself around 1/2 hour before the flip. It's not really noticible beyond a 10-20 minute window. As trip said, the correct crown height is more important and the 2824 is less expensive to purchase should you wish to upgrade to a ETA.

All the answers are in the post above by Rx4Time , the 2824 doesn't flip cleanly at 12, but you can have the hands reset so that the date starts to change at midnight, rather than 11:30 or whatever, which I find less annoying.

And last thing. What about 316f? Will I have any problem with it for swimming on the sea? Will salt of sea water affect the steel?

No, just about all dive watches are made from 316 steel.
