Hi All!
Just purchased Omega Seamaster OMF with 2824.
After 2 weeks of usage, I leave the watch on the table for night. After I wake up - it is 15 minutes late.
I wear it every day for 2 weeks. Tried to wind it yesterday, but today is the same problem.
What may I check before sending it to the TD for repair?
BTW, does this 2824 need to be manually winded if I wear it every day?

Thanks

15 minutes in a night looks really strange. How’s the power reserve? Also, does it keep good time while you wear it?

I don't know about power reserve.
It was about +25 secs/day while I wearing it.

You should try and give it a full wound by hand (30-35 turns), leave it on your desk dial up and test it if you don’t have a timegrapher to check the performance out!

For how long should I leave it on the desk after being wound? How should I test it?

Till it stops. The point is to check the power reserve, which is supposed to be ~40 hrs

I wound it (30 turns). Left for night at the desk. After I woke up - it is 5 hours late :(
What should I do next? Send it back to China?

I would not send anything in China due to custom risks. Sounds like any watchmaker can sort this out easily.

If your in the usa I have a new 2824 movement. It came out of my arf sub. It was never used. I'll let it go for basically a large pizza money :)

I am not in USA. But my brother is in USA :) We could have a deal, if watchsmith confirms it is dead :)
Do you have Asian or ETA 2824?
Thanks for proposal.

Why do you think that it is easy? Why not to sent to China?

2824 is a good movement and very popular due to its reliability which means many people own watch with 2824 and many watchsmiths are very familiar with the movement. I believe your 2824 is a fake 2824. If you want, you can replace it with a genuine Swiss ETA 2824 for a reasonable price (under $300). If you do that, your watch can run forever.

Sending a fake watch to China is very risky. Customs, unreliable mail service and clueless dealer employee can make your rep magically disappear.

Thanks for such meaningful response.
What do you mean by "I believe your 2824 is a fake 2824." My Asian 2824 is clone of Asian 2824? Or fake means "clone of ETA"? :)

They mean it’s not a genuine Swiss eta 2824 and if you replace it with one of these the watch will be very reliable:)

I saw ETA 2824-2 on Amazon for 200$. Could it be genuine ETA for this price? How to make sure it is not a fake?
Thanks

Yes it could be. I can get a brand new ETA 2824 from startime for less than that.

I also see on ebay items like this: Genuine automatic ETA 2824-2, 25 Jewels Swiss made in Switzerland @ 6

Condition:
New without tags

“N.O.S.”
It is 130$.
My questions would be? What is N.O.S.?
What should be done in order to stay with Omega date disc and stem? Will they be transfered from my Asian 2824 to ETA one?
Thanks

NOS will probably need a movement service depending on how old it is. it's been sitting for years if not longer. A new new 2836 can be bought from Otto Frei for about $230.
