I'm considering a Pam 441 now, and did a lot of research. Everything looks great on it especially with the newly developed movement by vsf, one thing that's not so great is the 24hr GMT instead of 12 hr like gen. I'm just wondering if it bothers any of you who have or had a GMT Pam?

It will only bother you if you use the GMT function and don't know how to tell the hour from the GMT hand position. For me, I do know how to tell the hour but I don't use the GMT so it doesn't bother me, doubly.

Although wouldn't that be a dead giveaway its a rep when the gmt does 24hrs instead of 12? That is actually the reason i cancelled my 441 and just opted for other models.

Of course it's a dead giveaway. If someone followed you for an hour and checked your watch repeatedly, at which time you would have reported the stranger eyeing your watch from afar for the past hour or so.

A tell is a tell, no way of spinning that fact. But the biggest tell is the wearer IMHO. Just don't fuss over details that can hardly be seen at arm's length. No one is THAT good/

for me that is a deal breaker and instant tell for all PAMs that in reality have 12H GMT
maybe just remove the GMT hand? as you won't be able to hide it under the hours hands as on gen..

It drives me insane.
I will never order that VSF movement with GMT function.

I have no idea what should be the use of a GMT hand anyways.
What dtrives me nuts is knowing and constantly seeing it doesn't work as it should

I know it's sad, but it's also rep ultimately. btw, the GMT hand should show you the second time zone you set IMO. Consider removing it? ignoring it?

I know what the GMT hand does. What I don#t know: who the hell needs a second time zone displayed?
You simply can't build a "clone" movement and forget about that. It's a permanent visible flaw.
I can't ignore that. I won't remove it.
"It's a rep" is no excuse. They simply f**** up.

Hmm, I think it's useful for people who travel a lot or live overseas, just like me. I'm still doing old-fashioned calculations to get the time of other time zones, although smartphones do it all. Also 441 is great for its ceramic build not GMT function though. I also read a thread saying that you can actually mod it to 12hr by adding some diy gadgets to the movement, don't remember exactly, but what I'm saying is you can change that.

You could but it's not an easy mod, something only a competent watchmaker or experienced modder should attempt. The fact of the matter is, if we know how to do it, certainly the factories do as well, yet they won't. Maybe there is something else that's stopping them to do it.

Yes, it is bothering me a lot.
The Gen GMT hand should always in the same position with the hour hand. I mean for example... If it's 3 o'clock, the gmt hand should point an exact number like 1, or 2, or 3, or 12, or any other O'CLOCK.

But in 24hr gmt like this.... Anytime the GMT hands on the odd hour, it's looked weird. For example the hour hand pointing 3 at 3 o'clock, and the GMT hand pointing at 12.30 (between 12 and one) or 1.30 (between 1 and 2), and so on if you know what I mean. It really scream Fake. And I can't live with that.
