243, versus DSN 024A, versus 305. Which?

The 243 and the 024A are basically the same. They take a 243 and simply add a 0 and trade out the 3 for an A. Adding the 0 is pretty easy, but the 3/A swap requires considerable skill and practice.
Personally I'd go with the 243 because it totals 9 which is a Prime number. And I really like Prime numbers.

I'm sorry but 9 is not a Primer number. 9/3=3 If it is primer number.

I have a 305 incoming from Toro Bravo.

I like not having a date magnification.

I agree, and the simple marks instead of the numbers is so beautiful on this one. It's just that movement issue.... Please post a review of your 305 when you get it so I can discover that I bought the wrong one:frusty:

I have an old 243 and the new DSN 024a, both fantastic reps. Some days I prefer the 243 brushed look and just recently, I lean towards wearing the 024a more.

I was told that either the h-fac or the noobfac 243 blows the old 243 in terms of quality, I can say that the new DSN 024a is probably one of the best 024a out-of-the box.

Oh jeeezzzz, I had just made up my mind in favour of the 243, then you confuse me with those pictures of Davidsen's 024A. Man, that's a beauty! How's the lume? I know the lume on the new 243 is supposedly fabulous. You speak of the 'new' DSN 024A. So far people have commented that his 024A is not very accurate. Is this new version better?

Thanks!

IMO, DSN has "quietly" upgraded his 024a, he hasn't updated his 024a listing with new photos but has changed quite a few parts for the better.

The new 024a has a better polished CG with flat polished pin, better crystal with 6mm cyclops and clear AR, better CG and matte dial, and of course the thick datewheel that looks like taka's DW or maybe LH.

With the old DSN 024a, these things are a must-have mods to make the 024a look gen-like, now it's standard offering so I would say this rep is not far from the h-factory quality.

The lume is normal rep lume, not bright at all.

Hmmmmmm...... I wonder if Davidsen would do the lume properly. I bought his Ultimate Fiddy and it has fabulous lume. Thus he has the stuff and the skills. I wonder why he doesn't just do it :frusty:

i've managed to overhaul my previous 024A from DSN with an entirely new caseset, according to Spinmaster who helped me swap to the new caseset, alot of things have been revised and improved from what he has observed, the new crown that came from DSN is even more accurate than T48's on top of the many improved parts as madcat mentioned.

the only gripe for me would still be the lowered crown position being off-centred, lume wise as Stromtrooper mentioned although weak on the 024a but is should be consistent with gens as they are T dials and would suffer loss of luminosity over time, however this could be fixed by getting it relumed by a modder.

each sub has its pros and cons, the 024a vintaged look is nice with the polished bezel which makes it unique and different from the other Submersibles that PAM has to offer.

whichever makes your heart skip a beat, then just go for it! if not, just order both the 243 and 024a.

OK, done! I had decided, after much soul-searching and based upon the interesting responses from here, that the DSN 024A was for me. I contacted David and asked for a 'newborn' version, wanting all the latest updates. He replied that there will be a 'newborn' 024A later this year. I've therefore decided to go for the Noob 243 and wait for David's 'newborn'. Hey, this way I'll end up with two, not one watches! :maty:

Nice choice on the new 243. Just got one myself and it's really incredible. Not a thing on it disappoints me in the least. I also have the 305 and although I like it as well, nobody here has mentioned the cloudy crystal at certain angles and a slightly wobbly bezel. Also to consider is how easily the Ti scratches. You got to baby those things a bit.

Out of curiosity, I ordered my 243 from Puretime and it is a Noob factory. Some of you here on the forum talk about the 'H' factory version of the 243. Is this the same thing, and if not, what are the differences? Have I gone and ordered the wrong one..... after all this?!
