243, versus DSN 024A, versus 305. Which?

OK, time to get a Panerai submersible. My problem is which, and I'd like people to chime in their thoughts. The three in the running are:

305: pros: clear caseback, no cyclops, modern design, simple dial.
cons: 47mm (big), not sure of the accuracy of the rep. Lume?

243: pros: a 'super rep', thus likely the closest to genuine of the three.
cons: cyclops (thus busier face), and no clear caseback.

DSN 024A: pros: simply stunning and with that 'vintage' look.
cons: not sure of the accuracy. Cyclops, no clear caseback.

The pros and cons are according to my criteria, and thus may not be yours, but I'd love to hear what people recommend. I don't know how good the rep. strap is on any of these models, but assume I will have to replace whatever strap it comes with. That may, however, not be the case. Perhaps one or more has an excellent rep strap--in which case, please note that. Thanks, all!

Ok, I'll give my 2cents...

I just got my 243L Noob V2, and was seriously considering the 305...although on the 305, my con is your pro...the clear caseback is the reason it's not a super rep...clearly not the P9000 movement. I like the simplicity of the dial and the non mag date, but the 243 always stood out for me...the 24 is nice, but I feel like the DSN reps have a long way to come. just my 2 cents...I'd go 243 all the way!!!

I love the 305 but to many tells IMO. The 24 is actually my grail and in the near future I hear the factories have it on the list to build. DSNs version is okay but no where near the gen. I've thought about buying the gen on many occasions....that's off topic though. However I did set out to buy a nice submersible a few weeks ago and decided on a noob 243 v2. Holy crap it's an awesome watch. Is it a super rep.....hell ya!

My recommendation is to buy the 243 now and when/if the 24 is released then reevaluate.

Good luck bro

In my opinion, 305 wins!! In fact a 305 is on its way. I have a big wrist and those 47 mm are perfect for me and something to keep in mind is that when titanium is not heavy and you can wear it all day you will not feel uncomfortable ...

Interesting food for thought. That 243 sure is popular. I don't think I've read of anyone who was not mightily impressed with it. I have one of the 47mm 'Big Egizianos'. Does the 305 wear like it--though lighter because of the titanium? What are the tells on the 305--apart from the obvious one of the wrong movement through that clear caseback? So far there doesn't seem much support for Davidsen's 024A. I hope it is that 'A' version the rep makers are considering building. I love that polished bezel and the lack of hash marks.

I have the noob 243, and just tried on a T dial o24 gen last week.
for me, the 024 is a nice watch, but the polished case just doesn't work with the sub look.
matter of taste obviously, but if you want sub for tool look, I'd definately go 243.
if you are looking for accuracy, I'd go 243 too :)

if you are looking for a 024, then I'd go for 024.......but knowing myself, I probably end up loving the polished luminor shaped 024 case soon enough

Really

The 243 hands down , i own both the gen/rep and it is spot on ,and that's why it's perfect solid case back , the 305 simple but once you see the caseback it's over in my opinion.:maty:

The 305 wears much smaller than the 47 Egi. It's still really big on the wrist though. Feels way bigger than the vintage 47s.

I had an old school 243 and it was my preferred water watch at the time (I just hate it when I have to be careful around water with a watch).
I took it diving and surfing without any problems. Now with a better version available I am definitely considering one again. It's built like a tank and should keep you happy for a long time.
PS: I did like my DSN24A (in my sig) a lot though, but it never felt that solid in comparison...

I agree...clear caseback on 305 is a con not a pro for me too.
I just got my V2 243L from Angus and its the real deal. Get it.

Sounds like the thing to do is to go for the 243 now, and the 305 when the rep movement is available, and for the 024A when the 'super rep.' comes out. # more watches in my future! Whooeeeee.

Another vote for the noob v2 243...it is an amazing rep. I own a gen 243 and the differences on the wrist are minimal at best. I plan to do a review at some point but the basic differences I have noted are:

- rep bezel has slightly less sheen (only when compared side by side)
- rep lume is slightly more yellow (gen is minimally more green)
- rep case back engraving is more shallow and less precise
- rep hands are not as well polished

From wrist length view, almost all of the above disappears. Get a 243!

I think that at this moment the PAM 243 from Noob is the best choice
