Alright folks,

I have been waiting for a decent video of the new BBB for a while now since I couldn't tell if they truly captured the blue color and shine of the bezel insert from the pics on PT and intime but looks like Andrew at TT (though not a TD here) has the video up.
http://www.ttw-138.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=228&products_id=17287

As far as I can tell, they did a superb job with the bezel insert and it finally reflects the light like the gen does. As far as replication process goes, ZF did a top notch job here and i can easily call this a super rep (though a more serious recognition can be made after inspecting the watch in person).

Having said that and as much as I love what they did...there are a few yet HUGE deal breakers for me for this particular version. And again, these deal breakers are not faults of the rep but the gen. The obvious differences of this 2016 version are:

1- Shield logo instead VS Rose logo
I personally don't care too much about this and actually prefer the shield simply because the rep did not have the best rose logo as it was missing a petal. Surprisingly tho, first versions of the ZF reps did not have this problem..v4 and v5, the super reps however had this issue. So to me, shield works fine and the rep has it captured perfectly

2- Three lines above the 6 hour marker for COSC VS Smiley "self winding" print
I much rather the smiley face but again, this is only a matter of preference over aesthetics and not a deal breaker by any means.

3- Rivet bracelet VS Oyster.
OK so the new version comes with the riveted bracelet and while I, again, would prefer the previous oyster bracelet (rep of the previous version also has one of the best bracelets I have ever owned on a rep...up par with crpo bracelets if not better), I can definitely live with rivet too (tho it is not my first choice)

4. THICKNESS - DEAL BREAKER
Alright, this is where it gets messed up for me...Rose logo/ETA based Tudor BB had a case thickness of 12.7mm (not the thinnest watch by any means but it was perfectly manageable) and thanks to the new in house movement, the 2016 version has a whopping 14.5mm thickness. This is nearly 2mm jump and you would be surprised how big of a difference it can make especially when you are wearing tight cuffs. This thickness is Pelagos territory. Granted, most of the increase (if not all) comes from the bump on the case back (the previous version had a flat cb while this one has a bump to make room for the movement).

I understand that ZF wanted to make a 1:1 copy and they did a great job at it but I wish they would also update the previous rose logo version since that would be the choice for many of us who don't want such a thick watch.

Btw, Angus (@puretime) had a thread about ZF novelties that I exchanged a lot of messages and pictures regarding the color issues of the BBB bezel insert and he told me (and assured me) a few times that he had shared every pic I sent him with the factory and etc, so my kudos and sincerest thanks goes to him as well for allowing us to finally have a correct bezel insert color for the BBB :)

On that note, @puretime, do you think ZF would be interested in updating the rose logo version? I mean, all it needs is this new bezel insert which should fit since the case size is same other than thickness. And if they decided to update the rose logo, then you are looking at an incredible super rep.. But even without updating the logo, simply using this new bezel on the older versions would make it great (I for one would definitely buy it).

The question I have is are they making the black version with gold hands?? I can't seem to find it anywhere. It seems as if the blue one is everywhere though. Hmmm

Yes they are. They are making the shield logo version of red and black one as well (Angus shared the dial pics long time ago) but I think they released the blue one first since it is a significant improvement over the last versions in terms of accuracy. Red and black versions were already fantastic reps in previous iterations.

Personal preference aside how accurate a rep is this?

Above he stated that he could easily call it a super rep. It seems like there are improvements over the last version which was very good. So I would say it's probably one of the best reps out there.

The new shield dial watches are thicker than the old rose dial watches. It's not as easy as just swapping in a new dial. I hope the rep factories got this right too because if not then the new ones will be much less accurate than the old ones especially since the old reps of the ETA/rose dial set time correctly and the new shield dial reps will function backwards.

Yup, and that's what I listed I the review. It is thicker (based on the pics and the video). Additional thickness is caused by the slight increase in the thickens of the case back (it looks a bit domed as opposed to flat) which is just like gen.

What I was saying was that the previous version of the bbb (rose gold eta one) can be so easily updated with this new bezel insert and voila! You have brilliant reps of the two versions with minimal effort

I haven't seen a in house vs ETA side by side but it sounds like the body of the case is basically the same thickness in both versions and it's just the case back that makes the watch thicker overall? I assumed that the watch case was actually thicker but that's what happens when you assume! Lol

Haha, yes, that's basically what it is. A jump from 12.7mm to 14.5 but all in the case back (at least based on what I read and watched) , so it should be more forgiving

Pretty much all I have read suggests the same. And I have spent too much time reading up on this watch. Considering a gen s&g. It is basically all down to the movement being about 2mm thicker than the eta. I have a gen North Flag with the same movement and it is much thicker looking on my wrist then my yachtmaster or spectre reps.

Yup, that's the link I shared in the post bud :)

Exactly! I really wish they could keep the thickness same (probably a worthy trade for 70hr pr tho) as I am a bit worried about keeping it under my cuffs....also, I can pull off the eta version just fine but have skinny wrists and I am afraid the new one will sit too high on my wrists and look awkward...

I really like the north flag (don't think it will be repped) but again, I don't think my skinny wrists can pull it off especially with that lug design

I got 6.5 in wrists and the watch fits great I think. Lug design is beautiful.

Zethunder, thank you for your astute observations. I too would have loved for the factories to update the previous generation. I could not get over the fact that the rose was incorrectly printed (or the the pearl was incorrect), so I sold it to another member on this forum. In their defense, I'm sure it was difficult to copy given its extensive detail.

Hey bud,

My pleasure! I will do a more in depth one once I receive mine. I own a v5 and while I absolutely adore it, accuracy of the rose logo still bothers me too. But you know what, that "difficulty in printing" is a BS excuse that someone came up with at some point and it simply got spread from there. If you look at the earlier versions of the ZF like V1 and V2, rose logo is almost perfect (far better than the latest versions). Also, the rose logo on the BB heritage is PERFECT, no missing petal, no nothing....I think ZF got lazy at some point with their dial print (I mean, why would they not be able to print one petal while they do the other 3 just fine) and never bothered to fix it.

I love everything about this watch! My wrists are smaller unfortunately (~6.2 -6.3)...I really hate my wrists sometime lol...most of my fav watches look big on me :/

I've always been a fan of the BB. This is definitely making me consider finally pulling the trigger!
