I'm stuck on whether to get the 16610 or the 116610 (they're both MBW). I only have a couple days to decide. I love the glidelock clasp and beefier look of the 116610, but love the classic look of the 16610. I only have a couple days to decide. What do you guys think? Some gen pics below for reference (b/c they're easy to find):

Personally, I have tried on both gens at ADs a few times and I don't like the ceramic...

I would recommend you try them on at AD and decide.

If you are looking for accuracy... get the 16610.

You need a modded 116610 to even have the same accuracy as a noob sub. Too many things wrong with it.

Me personally... I'm over the classic sub. It just not as comfortable as the sub c IMO. The glidelock clasp is the absolute best bracelet I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. The maxi dial and bigger everything just "feels" better. A lit more blingy though! Which I don't consider a good thing.... not a "tool" watch no more.

Definitely two completely different styles.

I have. Unfortunately, every time I end up with the 116619 on my wrist, and I'm trying to make up reasons why I don't walk out with it. Not good since it's 2/3 the price of a decent BMW.

I tried both in an AD and preferred the shape of the classic but really don't like the clasp, or the pearl for that matter. I might pick one up at some stage though.

Both have their good and bad points but the 16610 is my vote. That design basically set the standard and looks as good with a tux as it does with jeans and a t-shirt.

I have owned both. I kept the 16610.

The ceramic sub is good too but I found the extra 'beefiness' sort of, unnecessary. On top of that, with as flimsy as the 16610 clasp may feel - it's rock soild in form, comfort, and function. The glidelock clasps are cool - but they are also a bit bulky and they are known to fail due to welding issues (even on the gen). If you check out the glidelock clasp carefully and see all the parts, it feels like it's going to break.

YMMV.

Lol, just checked out my last post and it looks like the font color changed on me in the middle of a sentence. Can't seem to figure out how to change it back.

I think the new one is grody. They jumped on the "let's makes watches as big as our heads" bandwagon.

Dial size is the same isn't it, just the case a little bigger? For the ceramic I think the rep cases are a little smaller and less square than gens, which is better I think.

Get them both! Either one is a winner, though... .

+1... My thoughts exactly. Been thinking about getting both for awhile now and your feckin' thread has instigated a clever and cunning plan...

I prefer the ceramic one. Bulky and more solid/heavier, feels more expensive. The bigger dial is also a big factor but if you want accuracy of the rep. 16610 will win hands down as it been remake by rep factory for so long with many things gotten correct.

For the 116610, you will probably need another 2-3 years time for them to produced a more accurate one.

But personally, 116610 is my choice of the 2.

Back in October of last year, gen owners by the dozens started selling their newly acquired Sub-Cs on TRF, WUS, TZ and the like. Many can still be found even today.

I've wondered if it's because they tried the new model out then decided it wasn't for them, or they are Rolex traditionalists who just prefer the older classics, some of which also have the maxi-dial.

Having worn both, I prefer the bold look of the new 116610. Although the glidelock clasp is rather long for my minuscule wrist, the comfort of wear it provides is far superior to the older sub versions.

I guess it's a matter of taste.

The 16610 is discontinued from Rolex....so maybe Rep won't be available in few month...year? Like the faboulous Sea-Dweller (not the deep sea), or like the Noob GMT.
So take the 16610, it's a VERY accurate rep, and then, save to get the 11610 when you're ready!

But if you like Rolex watch (really addicted, I can't leave from my wrist my 16610 and I also have few gen watch...!), you will get the two!

LOL, I wish. At what I'm paying someone to acquire one of these plus gen parts/ installation/ etc, I can only do one right now.
