1500 Build Question that I’m sure has been answered

I couldn’t find any details related to this but if there is a thread I am missing I would be ever so grateful for the link. My question is would a 34mm Raffles case listed on website as

“ROLEX SIGNED VINTAGE STYLE OF 34MM STAINLESS STEEL DATEJUST WATCH CASE WITH SMOOTH BEZEL AND 19MM LUGS SIZE FIT ETA 2824 MOVEMENT AND DIAL IN 27.0MM”

Support a gen 1500 dial? I plan on building one with a 2824. To be more specific will the date window of a gen dial be in place on a 2824. The same question for the cyclops on the crystal.

Gen cases will work with gen dial, but you'd need a date window overlay to shift the numbers on the 2824 date wheel to line up with the crystal. Not sure about the NH35 crystals, but I think they’re the same.

I'm not sure on a Raffles case, I think the crystal is designed to work with the 2824 date wheel. Ken from Raffles should be able to tell you if you email him.

I'm currently struggling with a build of a Tudor in a 34mm case. It's a gen Tudor case and crystal, which is designed for a 2824, but the date wheel isn't lining up, so I suspect that Tudor used a different crystal, which I've been having trouble finding (most places that sell crystals list them for Rolex but not Tudor).

It looks to me like the Raffles case you're looking at has the date cyclops in the ETA position.
I don't know if a 25-117 crystal which is for the 1500 Date would fit- all you can do is try. Plan B would be to get a case w/o the cyclops.
The Date dial is 26.85mm so it should work.
You might ask Ken is he has a case with the crystal with cyclops in the Rolex position.

Could you try removing the Cyclopes? I’ve only done it on sapphire crystal using a lighter so not sure how to with acrylic crystals. Then you could acetone the glue off and reapply in the right position?

I think acetone eats acrylic crystals.

I know you can remove a cyclops from a sapphire crystal with a razor blade and glue it back on, but not sure if acrylic is molded one piece or two that are fused together.

Agreed I have DWO so should match up with the window. Just worrying about the crystal mag being out of place

Gen dials fit this case, however I would recommend getting a case with no mag on the crystal, then buy a mag off eBay and use glass glue to get it perfect

As you are using an ETA overlay you'd have to glue / adhere it to the ETA datewheel, so lots of options here. Are you looking for which might be correct for a 1500 build?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Exactly that, I'm using an eta - I'd like to know which would be correct for a gen Oyster Perpetual Date dial, which will be in a gen 1501 case - I couldn't see that model listed on Raffles.

@pompompurin I know you have previously used the cartel open 6/9 DW on your 1500 builds. What's your recommendation on sourcing a DW for the 1500 build using an ETA 28xx as the movement?

Currently, there aren't many accessible and usable choices to choose from. Rafflesdial open 6/9 dwo is the safest to me.
