Here is another QC example. I'm happier with this one than my previous QC (dial isn't tilted to the right, numerals are straighter, the printing of minute numerals might be a little poorer). I am asking Jana to re-check the amplitude for me. https://imgur.com/a/agRodTA

I was actually looking at JTime store, but couldnt find the same model your bought. I only see the noob version with the 316L bracelet. How did you manage to get the GMF version with the 904L?

Thank you!

Don't use Jtime's website to order, Li doesn't list everything. Just send him an email for anything you want and he will get it for you. My last 5 watches have been from Li and none of them were listed on the site.

As immortalchef mentioned, I just emailed Li and requested it. He was trying to find me a Master Compressor at the time but wasn't having any luck with the factories still catching up so I changed my order.

Sorry to interrupt, but you gentlemen seem like you might be able to help me. I'm looking for a spare dial (rep) or a spare number "9" for the 116900. I haven't bought a rep yet so it doesn't matter what factory the part is from, as long as I know the origin so I can purchase the matching watch.

I'm attempting to build a double 9 116900.

I would prefer a Noob model. If any of you know how I could purchase this model with a spare dial (or spare #9) I would be a happy boy. :)

Thankyou.

This was exactly my idea.......just for fun and giggles...

immortalchef reprap Thank you both for your response! I already sent Li an email for this request! Why did you choose the GMF over the BP version? I think both are awesome, but the GMF just differenciates from BP with the 904L bracelet, doesnt it?

I considered doing this.

I also considered trying to get an explorer dial because I wanted to try to get the 3/6/9 that illuminate.

And to the person who originally posted this request, you wouldn't necessarily need the dial from the same factory as you could take the 6 and the 9 Of the 2nd dial and use those as the double 9s. That is if they don't match.

There are also models offered by JF and Noob.

The biggest difference between GMF and BP is GMF is 904L steel. There are different movement choices but GMF only offers the "3131", which is an SA3135 with fake 3131 engraving.

If you aren't aware, the SA3135 is the least preferred of the clone 3135 movements. VR>SH>SA

BP offers two models, both 316L. One is the reliable tried and true 2836 movement. The other would be an identical SA3135 with fake 3131 engraving.

BP and GMF are partner factories, so you aren't going to aee significant differences in overall apoearance. The dials are probably identical, I can't pick out any differences.

TD Trusty has a special discount on the Noob right now that I keep thinking I should grab. 2836 at $268 is a nice deal.

There is a whole thead discussing the Air King that picks the models apart in detail. There are some subtle differences in the dial numeral fonts and spacing, hands shapes, etc. You can see the Noob numeral 3 has the rounded mid curve on the right side that is not gen-like.

I'll post back with a link if I can find it.

I love the air king, I really do. The 14010 was my first new gen Rolex purchase and I’ve always been a fan of it and I’d love this model but there are just so many models, so many mods. I need to start prioritizing a little.

I also considered buying two extra dials and doing a 666 version.

You should do it to an explorer 1. Convert the 3/6/9 dial to a 6/6/6.

This way all that other noise (all the other numbers) don't distract from the beauty of it.

I choose the BP over JF and Nood because the number 4 - 40. BP corrected it.

Yeah, I photoshopped same image. Do think doing this on Explorer I is too much in your face. Doing a double 9 on a Air King would be nice as it's very stealth. Most people will never notice.

I think that is the fun......a created flaw hidden in a sea of numbers on the dial.

Would take the BP as the base.

I love the idea of the double 9 air king. I remember when I first saw that video, I watched it and didn’t spot it until like 2 seconds before he pointed it out. I thought it was nuts thAt the factory missed it, the AD missed it, the owner missed it and sold it (to someone else I believe) who hen sold it back to the original dealer before noticing. So it is subtle and if you run into someone who loves watches in person, it’s an amazing conversation piece.

Talking about it it makes me really really want to do this to an airking. I think it would be awesome.

I only suggested the explorer for the 6/6/6 because I think, if you’re doing a 666 you want in your face and the absence of all those intermediate numbers make it more noticeable. It could be fun to make and if you’re a slayer fan, fun to have. But I wouldn’t wear it personally. However, I LOVE the AirKing 9/9 dial idea and I would gladly wear that.

If anyone is interested in building a "double 9" Rolex, I am able to get an extra dial. The extra dial will cost me $85.00 US. I will split the cost with you. One 9 for me, One 6 for you. (or whatever other numbers you prefer.)

Right now I am holding off because of the cost to the whole project.

Great idea !!!
Think I could try that on a 1016 ... with a "Lucifer & Co" instead of a "Tiffany & Co"
Year 1968 to match "Rosemary's Baby" release year ...

Contacted Ryan about BP 2836 version, but although he confirmed it's possible to order a second bezel, he said BP 2836 version was OOS at the moment.

Bummer.
