1:1 or superclone?

Hey all!

New member but been collecting watches for a while, really stepping into replica's more recently.

Looking for some guidance please.

I was first introduced to replica's a few years back and bought a sub from a guy on instagram my friend referred me to.

Had it a while, still working, decent copy but wouldnt take an expert to realise its a fake, the bezel is too loose and when changing the time on the thread its poor quality.

Long story short Im looking for a new rep, I really like the Black Bay 58 and have been presented with a few options.

1 - Returned to the same guy and offered $200 for a AAA+
2 - Return to the same guy and offered a superclone at $700
3 - Looking at puretime online they have a 1:1 rep at $298

After reading these forums alot it seems the TD at puretime seems to be the logical view, altho I was happy with the instagram guys service previously.

I really want a good quality one, so pretty sure Im writing off option 1.

But whats the difference between a super clone and a 1:1 ? Will the puretime one be a low quality (Similar to his $200 AAA+ offer?)

It's what colloquially referred to as a "shitter". Or alternatively "Dhgate grade"...

Not advisable. You will be buying a shitter that's in reality only worth $70-80. The 120-130 difference is the dude's cut.

Again... NOT AT ALL advisable. You will be buying a shitter that's in reality only worth $70-80. The 620-630 difference is the dude's cut.

3 - Looking at puretime online they have a 1:1 rep at $298

You will be getting a watch at a fair and typical TD rate.

Well, primarily, superclone, AAA and 1:1 are just marketing-speak terms from the makers and TDs that nobody on RWI cares for.

The real differences / categories are between "shitters" (no factory designations), low-tier (a little better than shitters, often also with factory designations) and high-tier or high-end, like VSF, ZF, Clean etc....

Go to a Trusted Dealer, and the price of the rep will give you a very good indication of its quality. You get what you pay for.

Go to a random off Insta, and the price of the rep will be whatever they can get away with scamming out of an uninformed, gullible punter. And you won't get what you paid for.

Plus, any TD can source you the watch, just pick one. Read a bit if stickies to learn about the whole process.
Last, for the BB58 go for ZF (Z factory), it's the best out there and the price is killer.
