As the title states, just a friendly FYI to check your Sub, Dweller, Milgauss, Daytona and Datejust bracelet screws. Take them out. Use an extremely small amount of 222 Purple Loctite and tighten them back up. :)

This has been a public service announcement from a caring fellow collector. :)

Hey R2D4,

How did you know? I secured the DSSD bracelet screws yesterday with Offshores Dr.Bond fix-lock (red).

On a side note:
I find screws secured with Loctite 423 (blue) impossible to unscrew. I did that to one of my UN bracelets and now cannot get one particular screw out again.

Cheers,
Dr.Verylong

Isn´t the Loctite 220 the one that is recommended by Rolex itself? I think the 423 might have been "a little too much" for the screws of your UN, docVL.

On other hand, I have never had any problems with my Rolex screws and never used loctite on them too.
I just give them a twist with a bit more of will and they keep themselves in place as they should. But I must be just lucky with my watches... dunno, cause a friend of mine bought one of my watches and he told me that the screws were getting somehow loose sometimes.

I tightned ´em up for him, and it´s ok so far.

Cheers,
Spirit.

EDIT>

If a screw is chronically loose, use LocTite 221 or 222 (red bottle with blue LocTite fluid) on the screw threads to insure that screws are secure. Rolex even recommends LocTite 221 in their directions on using the DeepSea Glidelock buckle.

Let's go with Loctite 222 Purple. 220 is medium strength and supposedly for 3/8" bolts and higher. I used general purpose blue 243 and never had an issue. http://th.iloctite.com/en/loctite-220-290-242-243-248-222-262-268-271-272-277-threadlockers/25

Dr. VL maybe it was a coincidence that it seized? Did you try to heat it up?

Thanks Spirit! That's great information. :)

And if Offshore has a product that works, we should include it here. Thanks for the suggestion. I will fix my original post to finalize this so we can bump it once a week for our members. :)

This applies to the DSSDs also. You have to keep an eye on them for sure. Good reminder.

Damn i secured my wife's braclet screws with the blue loctite! She told me yesterday that it needs an extra link now... Hopefully i didnt use enough to render it unscrewanble

p.s. do screws in gen rolex braclets unscrew like rep braclets when not fastened with a thread glue?

Yeah mine do occasionally start to work themselves out. Never used Loctite, might look into it.

Definately going to get a wee bottle for mine. Although I have a feeling that most of mine will be getting worn on Nato's anyway :p

That does remind me to buy some spring bars though! 1.8mm for the reps?

Bump this, cause it's time check your screws. Any watch, check them.
