I realize my mini-reviews are not nearly the quality of most. But when I get a new one, I like to take some pics and make some observations. This watch is not modded in any way, and should be available by request from most dealers. Here ya go...

I have been waiting to purchase one of these for quite awhile. There have been several versions available, most completely incorrect, some correct, and this one which I cannot find fault with... Well, there is one thing, but its minor.

This correctly marked 116264 is the black dial stainless steel with 18kt white gold bi directional rotating bezel. It has the correct color and length red second hand and one of the most perfectly centered all red print date wheels Ive seen. There are several versions of this watch without the rotating bezel, and with black date wheel and even one with alternating black and red date wheel. This configuration is proper for a 116264.

The bezel is very smooth and then shine of the fluted areas is incredible. They even got the brushed surface that the engraved numbers are on right.

The dial is very sharp. One thing that I noticed that they got right, and it amazes me sometime how the get the strangest things perfect, and other things so wrong... The black dial with white gold stick markers is the ONLY Rolex Turn-O-Graph dial that has the lume applied directly behind the stick markers. The lume literally touches the stick marker and is more of a 1/2 circle. On ALL OTHER Turn-O-Graph dials, they are applied away from the stick markers and are round. They got it right here... The lume is appied in the correct location, and its pretty bright.

The things that I have noticed and are most impressed with. All of the letters around the rehaut are perfectly placed and of the correct font, color and size. I rad an interesting article the other day that explained why ROLEX ROLEX ROLEX is arranged the way that it is. Each letter should line up with a minute marker. All of the ROLEX on the 6-12 side should begin on a 5 minute marker, and all of the ROLEX on the 12-6 side should END on a 5 minute marker. This leaves the correct space at the top for the coronet and enough space at the six for the serial number.

The engraving between the lugs is spot on, correct in font, content and size. Here is the ONE issue that I have. The serial number is an R series serial, and from the best that I can tell that would date the watch to 1989... which is well before this configuration was available. If I decide to keep the watch, which is likely... I will have a different number engraved.

The crystal is perfectly aligned and the coronet seems to be the quality of the Noob ones. I did not see the coronet on the first couple attempts to locate it.

The bracelet that JS included is not the original bracelet for the watch... BUT, it is correctly engraved as a 72200. Which matches the Stainless steel with white gold bezel Turn-O-Graph. The bracelet has a beautiful comfort link extension and spring loaded thumb lift. I did have to massage the end links in order to get perfect alignment so that genuine spring bars could be installed. But it came out well, and I am very pleased.

I opened the watch to check the movement and it is a very clean and the correct 2836-2 SWISS. The case back is all correct, spelling and everything!!!

I greased the seals and sealed it up... now I will time it and see how she is running.
I have read that this watch was originally purchased from KING, and I am the third owner. I cannot for the life of me see what would have convinced the previous two owners to sell it. I think its an incredible replication of a fairly rare watch.
Here are my rather poor pictures, sorry but Im in a little hurry. I leave for Wash DC in less than 2 hours.

Yes JS, you should have... If I ever decide to let it go, I will let you know. But I just got a big thumbs up from my 4 year old. He said something along the lines of it being his, and how does it get smaller?

Ive made a couple more observations...
The markers are nearly perfectly formed. On the old datejusts, the markers were angled at about 3/4 the length of the marker with the short side being toward the outside of the dial. It was not sharp angle, but enough to catch light differently.
The Turn-O-Graph has markers that are "stepped". The marker is actually two different thickness's with the shorter and thinner portion on the outside of the dial. The shorter and thinner portion is what appears to be a micro bead blasted finish, where the rest of the marker is a high polish (including the entire sides). They got this right also! AMAZING!
One difference between the gen and replica is the thickness of the bezel. The replica is considerably thicker than the genuine. In fact, the genuine is so thin that I am rather amazed that they had room to put a click mechanism under it.
My flight, was changed until tomorrow evening and I may take some better pictures this evening. So far, it is spot on +/- 0 after a couple hours.

Very nice review and pics, T.!
It´s a awesome watch, and it grows on you time after time, isn´t it? Firstly I wasn´t so impressed with the TOG to buy one, but after destiny putting one on my hands, I really like its style!

...Only I´d like to say about the rehaut engraving you mentioned, is that it indeed lines up perfectly, but the ROLEXROLEXROLEX seems to be also black painted over the engraving, which isn´t that way on the GEN.
And the serial, should be engraved from the 27min ~ 33min. leaving 1 minute marker of space between the serial´s begining and end, and the ROLEXROLEXROLEX around the rehaut, as it is on all the GENs (no matter the case size). Not right next to the ROLEXROLEXROLEX...

The lume dots... It´s not a rule.
As strange as we can find it from Rolex, I´ve seen GENs with the lume dots touching the white gold markers, and GENs without touching it.
Either for the White Gold, or Everose Gold, or Yellow Gold.

Here´s a Rolex advertisement pic:
ScreenShot009.jpg

Enjoy the watch in good health! It´s definitely a keeper!

Cheers,
Spirit.

Spirit, thank you for mentioning that about the paint on the rehaut engraving. I was unsure as Ive seen pictures that did appear to be painted and then some that were clearly not.
If I can firmly find that they should not be, I will remove the movement, dial, crystal and soak the case in acetone overnight. That will remove the paint and leave the engraving.
Thanks,
T

You´re welcome, mate!
...and thank you for your observations and for sharing this awesome review too!
The community is all about it :)

Sure, pay a visit to the AD and check it out, I´m pretty sure about it. and if you happen to successfuly remove the paint, pleast post a pictorial about it too, it will be indeed very interesting!
My GMT-IIC has the engraving painted over the engravings, and I wish I could remove it too, but I´m not as confident in opening the case of mine and removing the movement (lack of skills and tools) But would hugely appreciate the pictorial about it, once you´ve done that.

Check some of the macros on TRF, and it will be easy to confirm too, before going to the AD.
(There on the pic I posted it´s really well visible too, the engraving is deep, thus the coloring, but definitely not painted.)

Cheers,
Spirit.

I opened her up today with the intention of removing the black paint from the engraving after making a trip to the AD and seeing that none of the TOG's have the rehaut engraving painted...
It appears that these are printed on to the rehaut and not engraved at all. I cannot see or feel any grooves on any of the letters. So I put it back together. I would rather have black lettering than no lettering at all.
I wore the watch to a meeting this morning and had three different people who I would not consider watch people comment on how great looking it was. Only one recognized it as a Rolex and the other two just thought it was "expensive".
I also checked the timing again... +1 second after about 30 hours.
I saw a rather odd TOG at the AD. It was identical to the model of this one, but the numbers were RED. I have not found any reference to this bezel on the net, but Im going to go get some red model paint and do that. IT WAS SO HOT.

Well, on Monday I will be able to do a side by side genuine / replica photo shoot. I am so impressed with the look of this replica that I ordered a genuine TOG today. I was able to get a pre-owned TOG with black dial and white gold bezel for just under $4500. It has all boxes and papers and is a year old.
I had intended to buy two watches in memory of my father... One down... One to go.
Thanks Dad, I miss you...

Since CBR already started a TOG thread I thought I would go ahead and post this here.

I have to say after seeing CBR's TOG pics I realize just how cheap mine is. Except for one thing. When I bought this a few years ago I was supposedly buying a cheap version with asian movement that I paid 60 bux for. But, today for the first time I opened it up and found it had an Eta 2836 with an incabloc. I guess sometimes you get lucky even with a cheap rep.

sorry horrible pic here:
Eta2836Medium.jpg

Now I'm really not familiar with TOG's but the reason I opened it in the first place is because I wanted to fix the mis-aligned rehaut. Obvious in photo below. I initially thought this was a ring place within the movement, but found it is actually part of the case and not being able to adjust the movement at all, I guess I'm stuck with it..oh well at least it has a nice movement LoL.

YIKES

Well, I just took tagged pics of my replica so that it can be sold. I am expecting my gen here by 3pm today...
That is a nice movement in yours! I am not sure why, but I have always preferred the nickel 2636-2's over the brass ones. I doubt there is any technical difference between the two, but the silver color is better looking in my opinion.

...Since the TOGs are the subject for the week as I see, I bumped my quick review I wrote somewhere last year for those who might want to get some references about the a21j of this watch too.

Here´s the link:

Waiting anxiously to see the pics and comparison with your GEN, T.!

Sounds like you'll have some bidding when you put the rep up. Two questions:

1) Why not keep the rep too?

2) When are you planning on listing it?

JMD, I dont feel the need to keep the rep if I have the gen... PLUS, Im trying to finish a UPO franken project and I need to get a UPO!!!
I just finished putting the listing up, it is priced to sell QUICKLY in my opinion... Maybe too quickly!
