hi guys, i received my top gun from puretime about a week ago... everything was working fine for about 4 days THENNN on the 5th day, the 12hr chrono hand at 6'oclock position didnt reset to 12 anymore instead it reset slightly to the left. okay just a little alignment problem(but i'm kinda particular) ...

but things got worse. when i pulled out the crown to adjust the day-date wheels, i couldnt engage them! at the 1st extended crown pull-out position (sorry i dont know the proper terms) for day-date adjustment the crown just spins freely thus i am not able to adjust my day-date wheels anymore...

i bought this watch from puretime together with an Ingy AMG chrono(which is still working fine btw). anyone know what's wrong with my watch? can anyone point me to a watch repairman in singapore or asia? or anywhere else for that matter that can help me service a fake watch? thanks guys!

contact your dealer and explain the problem, tell him you need to send it back.

I too received my Top Gun last week from Pure Time and am experiencing one of the same problems. When I push the 'reset' button (yes, I do stop the chrono first), it only partially resets. If I then gently push the 'start' button, the second hand resets properly. I can live with this since it is, after all, a cheap(ish) rep--unless this should not be happening. Should the 'reset' button always work perfectly on a rep? Do I have a valid complaint which should lead to a new watch from Puretime?

Sorry to hear about the problems, but just to put you in the picture: The date and day thing is not the dealer's fault, it's yours, you have tried to change the date when the watch is in changeover mode*, this is a NO NO, even with gens, it buggers up the keyless works, you can get it fixed, but don't try it yourself. It applies to many watches including SEIKOS and TAGS and genuine IWCs. The other problem is easily fixed, you take off the back, you take off the crown, you take off the movement holder, you take out the movement and ever so slightly and ever so slowly using a good pair of PLASTIC tweezers you push the hands around to the correct position. Then you put the movement back in, secure the movement holder, put in the crown then put the back on. Your day and date won't work but your watch will reset to the correct settings. And BTW, use the chronos as much as you like.

* Believe me I know, I did this with a 3717....

you do not know when he changed the date, I had this problem before and followed the rules. To the OP, try to change the date at another position, 5 am or if it doesn't work, 7 am.
Regarding your advice to use Plastic tweezers, that is a NO NO. You cannot do it. To position the hands to sero, you need to take them off and replace them.

I would not start "pushing" the chrono hand around... It needs to be pulled with a proper pair of hand removers and then reset and pressed.
AND THAT is if the hand is loose to begin with. If the hand was correctly tight, and it was correctly centered, and all of a sudden stopped centering... it is most likely a mechanical problem in the movement and resetting the hand will not fix the problem (unless of course you center the hand and then never again use the chrono). But chances are if you use the chrono again, it is just going to reset to a different location.
But hey, what do I know... I will get some plastic tweezers and start pushing chrono hands around and see what happens. Maybe it does work.

Don't... It's a simple fix with the right tools and right skills. Chrono second hand counter is probably loose and may need tightening at the pole using a little bit of epoxy. You need to remove the hands using hand removal tool and a tiny needle to apply the epoxy. Then to install back, you need to have hand pusher.

Send it to a watchmaker who is rep friendly. This fix can be done is less than an hour.

The advice is probably right - don't use tweezers - though I have on another 7750 and it worked out OK for me. But point taken.... use the proper tools for a perfect job. Good luck.

the safest way is make sure it's at 12 noon. How do you do that? Advance the time past 12 o'clock and see if the date changes. If not, it's noon, otherwise you need to advance another 12 hours.

But rule of thumb, best not to adjust the date after 6pm or before 6am.

is the rule for adjusting the date at a specific time (i.e. noon or between 6pm or 6am) for all mechanical watches or just the A7750?

thanks!

That rule is for all mechanical watches, not just the A7750. And it applies to gens as well as reps.
Keep us updated on your return/repair/exchange results. Good stuff to know.

I have received a top gun V1 recently from puretime, a couple of questions i wish to ask;

1/ The watch runs about 25 seconds fast per day, is this normal, can it be adjusted ?

2/ The Chrono works fine, however as the second hand ticks through about the 58 second mark it stutters and then jumps forward to catch up where it should be, is this normal ?

3/ The chrono start button is stiff to start the chrono, but operation to stop it is fine, as is the reset, is this initial start button stiffness normal ?

4/ Setting the watch so as the second hand sweeps through 60 secs and the minute hand lines up with the minute markers is trial and error, having never owned a mechanical watch this may be normal, can anyone advise ?

5/ Does anyone know a UK dealer who can do a re-lume ?

thanks
