HAD WATCH BUILT & WATCH EXPERT HAS VANISHED!!

Hey all I need your advice as I'm completely perplexed!
Long story short: I wanted a PANERAI 6152-1 built & a member here suggested themselves (as well as 2 other builders/experts) who could do what I requested. Essentially a non-vintage Lume with SWISS movement.
Put in my order & throw Chinese New Year into the mix I knew it'd take a few weeks......
Ordered it in January 9th & had reply with pics on March 23. There was an oversight where the writing on the dial wasn't what I'd requested. They admitted their mistake & offered to fix it & send me pics when done....
Am still waiting! It is now April 22nd! So all-in-all it's been around 3.5 months or thereabouts....
I E-mail them almost every day for an update..it's even gotten to the point where I ask if they're still working on it or if they've sold it to someone else or they've shelved the project all-together.
Point is I have absolutely NO reply whatsoever!!
So don't know what to do now, the watch looks awesome except for the wrong dial wording and would REALLY love to get it....but.....
I would even suggest to pay for half of it so they can cover costs & would be willing to pay the balance when finished....but no reply to ANY E-mail.
I know that they do this this as their profession & not a hobby & know that they've been REALLY busy, but this is R-I-D-I-CU-L-O-U-S!!
What do you think...? I've been really patient thus far, but have run out of it....
??????
Have been bating for quite a while whether or not to post this by the way.

wow thats a long wait. I know this is "rep world" but i still feel that its no excuse for people to take so long. I guess "rep world" + watch world = could take several months for anything to be done.

You know QuickSilver,
If I had a reply from them to give me un update I wouldn't mind waiting more......but NO contact whatsoever is,I don't think good customer service, but I'm not about to tarnish their reputation on this FORUM, replica or otherwise, but those are the FACTS!
I'm waiting for a reply so I can use those funds elsewhere need be.
Was hoping to get it for my 40th in March & my wife's also dissapointed for me & keeps advising me to buy another piece from another dealer, but you guys know what it's like, once you fall in love....somehow though I know she's the voice of reason in my head!

Tragically bewildering. Good luck for a smooth outcome.

WOW, Ive had trucks built in less time than that. I wasnt quite clear on this, was a deposit involved?
IMHO, after this amount of time Im not sure the watch could ever make me happy... Even if it arrived just as I had ordered it, there would always be this bad memory of the time I had to wait for it and the lack of CS.
Sorry to hear about this, but with LOS on it... I would think that it should get cleared up PDQ.

Hey CARLSBADROLEX
I know what you mean about not having a good feeling even if it were to resolve itself.....at the same time I don't want to have this piece 90% finished & walk away....as ANNOYED as I am, don't think it would be fair!
PDQ...??
AM thinking of a FIDDY or CALI or DSSD as a substitute.......

How did the DSSD get in the mix? That's a very different watch from the others. You sound like me - too many watches and too many styles to pick just one (or two or three...!!).
I'm truly sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope it gets resolved quickly and you get the watch you want.
If you want a really cool watch FAST - and more watch than you pay for, IMHO, go with a gen LumTek. You'll have it for your 40th... AND your 80th as well!
Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support.....I too hope that it's resolved soon!
Luckily there was no exchange of money, so am effectively not "out-of-pocket", just out of patience....& frustrated.
Will wait & see...watch this space...

Yes please let us know over here... 3.5 month without notice is a bit long and I do hope that it turns out well for you.

Rep collection is about fun and patience, not not 3.5 without notice?

Yep, three and a half months is a fair wait. Have you paid a deposit on this watch? I kinda gather from your OP that this is not the case. If that is correct, from my POV what we have here is a (possible) withdrawal of offer to supply or very bad comunication, or both. Bad biz, yes but not a hanging offence IMHO. I've had knives, boots, jewlery and other stuff made for medival re-enactment use where you order and just wait. Some time in the next couple of years you will get an invoice in the mail and you know your stuff is ready.

On the other hand, if cash has changed hands . . .

It's an annoying situation for sure. But the guy doesn't have any of your money so I would just take your business elsewhere.

Haven't paid deposit.
Point is trailboss that they built it, there was an oversight on their part, offered to fix it & get back to me with pics so I could approve & seal-the-deal. The piece is 90% complete & I'd be happy to wait until they fixed the dial......however a month after last contact I'm still waiting, not necessarily "demanding" the watch to be finished "or else" but an update at the very least is more than fair I think.
If they felt they were out of pocket, I'd offer to pay part of it as a sign of good faith...but no replies to any emails...... [smilie=icon_scratch.gif]

No offense, but it seems rather apparent that they aren't interested in doing business with you.

Probably time to move on.

Is it a secret who the watch expert/builder is?

Maybe the information is pertinent and maybe not, but it seems like the more info members have about anyone offering services whether trusted or not is a good thing. Especially in a day when dealers/experts/modders are rarely posting on watch forums.
