here is my new straps on the 5227.. the lighting is not the best, hence the colors are not carried out exactly as they look in reality, especially the blue, it looks more like grey in the pics, where in reality it is very blue.. in any case, enjoy.. and thanks to jm_brc_7057 to give us the direction..
Very nice. The gold one is looking sick :D nubuck is all what understated elegance is about.

Any chance they make a v2 of the sector dial? It looks a bit too plain, too white and I love the dark/light silver contrast on the gen.

I’m going to get a CF strap for my 5296. I’m leaning towards a 21/18 width because I find the 16mm buckle width to be a bit small and fragile. I’m less concerned about being totally accurate to the PP strap at the buckle and know I have to put a 18mm buckle on (probably the 18mm CF). Anyone else using a 21/18 strap?

Not on my 5296R, but i'm using a 18mm buckle width strap on a 18mm buckle on my Breguet. Instead of the 16mm it comes with. Looks good. The other one was too thin for the watch. But the Breguet is 40mm x approx. 10mm. While the 5296 is 38mm x approx. 8,5mm. A 18 mm strap could easily change the look too much. If i where you i would try a 18 mm strap on it from another watch before ordering.

I tried a few 20mm x 18mm straps on the 5296.
The croc strap is gen Patek 21x16.
The other 2 are Nomos 20x18 and generic black 20x18.

It does indeed change the look - a bit too much for my liking.
I think I'm going to stick with a honey brown croco CR strap 21x16.
Maybe I'll get a 16mm deployant clasp from http://www.mywatchmaker.net/deployantclasp.htm

That is my expectation too, but it does look good, though I'm also far from an expert.

I personally wouldn’t risk it. Since you’re in the US I’d order from an eBay seller called wttp_usa. They sell gen used patek strap for a fair price.

Thanks, I looked them up. Not sure how I feel about used straps. Bracelets, sure.

As long as you get one with a good condition I think its fine. But thats just my opinion.

I guess I'll be guinea pig for a change. I bought one from the Ebay store, let's see how it turns out. Of course, the best strap I have to compare it to is from Ziczac, so I'm a bit limited! Edit - I just realised I have a Christopher Ward alligator strap that's pretty nice I can also use to compare.

I've got a 5296R on order, and if the size is ok (I have small wrists), I may well get a 5296G too. I've been trying to like the 5227, but I just can't at least not in steel. The cream face with steel and white date window don't work for me.

Can anyone comment on how large the 5296 wears? I have a 6" wrist and think it might be too big. The largest watch I wear is the OP39.

The ZF 5296? It's about 38mm. Wears small. As do the 5227.

Thanks, I ask because I read the opposite here - https://forums.watchuseek.com/f381/short-review-patek-5227g-comparison-5296g-4555665.html

While some have lamented the increased size of the 5227 (to 39mm), in my experience the watch wears smaller than the 5296G, which is one millimeter less at 38mm in diameter. https://forums.watchuseek.com/f381/short-review-patek-5227g-comparison-5296g-4555665.html

First, the lugs of the 5296 seemingly extend straight out of the case, whereas the lugs of the 5227 angle downward. On my wrist, this meant that the 5296 wore flatter and made the watch seem longer--there was a visible gap between my wrist and the lugs. When I wore the 5296, I was surprised at just how large it wore compared to other watches I have owned in the same diameter.https://forums.watchuseek.com/f381/short-review-patek-5227g-comparison-5296g-4555665.html
