It seems we have the same one, although the "Rolex" font might be slightly different.

@Spirit - what is the "so-damned ENEVEN Crystal" ? seems ok to me here. I don't think is that much shorter on mine, probably just the angle. You wonder why they couldn't get make a hand with the correct length !

It wasn't easy setting the GMT hand, I had to make a bit "late" before setting the time if not it was "too early" once the watch was ticking.

The Watcheden price was right too at $138-$20$=$118 with free shipping.

Still in two minds about sending it back and getting an the ETA "super rep", x2 the price though...

Hmmm [smilie=duckie.gif]

...and would you have any pic of the inside engravings of the clasp, fella? I´d like to see how they are (or still are), please :D
I´d appreciate that.

@Webvan:
Yeah, might be just the angle, pictures do trick us sometimes :)

I´m on my second GMT-IIc already, the first one came with the "so-damned UNEVEN Crystal" (sorry for the typo on the previous post)
...The uneven Crystal makes the watch impossible to be water-tight, and at the minimum splash when you´re washing your hands, the crystal will fog up. Mine did, and started to leave some dust at the center of the Dial and Crystal, like it was coming from the "Hands Core", where the hands are all-together and meet the Dial. The crystal on my first GMT-IIc was VERY uneven, so it was a pain in the ass. I returned the watch on the following day after buying it, and got the actual one I post on the wristcheck threads.

Check the Crystal height on my first GMT-IIc:
UnevenCrystalComparisonR.jpg

It was VERY eneven. So uneven that it was flat-flush with the bezel on one side, and submariner high on the opposite side. It was plain DUMB. Goddamn I hate these stupid dumbness from the rep factories. I really hope none of the new GMT-IIc batches are coming with uneven crystals...

Cheers,
Spirit.

Dissapointing at best. I will take a shot later. At work right now peeking in.

We all seem to have the same version, an Asian v2 I guess, actually I take it back mojaco has the "crooked 22" too so he and Spirit would have the v1 and <-MrZoSo-> and the v2.

@Spirit - Can barely make out the markings on the clasp too and no uneven Crystal either.

Oh and how on eartc do you take these amazing pics ?!

Interesting, it looks like an "Asian v3" then, fat hours hand and long GMT hand...where and when did you buy it?

Can you take a picture centered on the dial ?

It´s not an "Asian v3" ...It´s an "Asia ETAclone" it´s a completely different watch. The A-ETA clone is better than these a21j that we own (v1 & v2) But still has tthe same CRAP of a clasp engravings... ALSO, the A-ETA clone has wrong all non-symmetric rehaut engraving, where - funny enough - the cheaper a21j has a better engraved rehaut, more symmetrically, but yet not correct as the 2007 models of the Datejust have.

Cheers,
Spirit.

I'd rather wrong rehaust engraving then some of the other flaws different models of the watch have..
I can live w/ RolexRolexRolex not being perfectly lined up.. more then say a short gmt hand..

but the clasp... wtf ! Y can't they get this right !!!!!!

I see, thanks for clarifying, I'm still pretty new at this and assumed ETAclone=21j, hehe ;-)
So how can you tell the ETA version from the ETAclone version if you buy one second hand from a member here ? The ROLEX rehaut engraving, can't be too easy to check!

In terms of dealer price it seems we have :
21j v2 : $138 - discounted to $118 with free ship at Watcheden or $108 at Puretime
ETAclone : ?
ETA : $315 - discounted to $295 with free ship at Watcheden

...This is where the danger lives..
The info given by the dealers, sometimes isn´t all trusty (or in some cases, the info given TO the dealers BY the factories, is even worse) So, it might be tagged as ETA, when it´s really a Asia ETA Clone.

so this [$295 ~ $315] might be for an Asia ETA Clone, even without the dealer know.

This is a subject that was discussed extensively before, and I can´t say how you could check that, only opening the watch to make sure, but you must have some knowledge in watch movements to distinguish they both, or handle it to somebody who knows.
The AsiaETA clone from an ETA watch, exteriorly talking, seems to be visually similar.

It would be better to let some movement expert to chime in about this, I´m not the more indicated for that ;)

Cheers,
Spirit.

Thanks, do you know where the ETAclone version can be found, and for what price ? Can't say I've seen it myself.

Most all the dealers will have an option on the watch where you can see the a21j price.. or click down and see eta clone or eta "swiss"
Think most of the time eta clone = + $60-110 .. eta "swiss = +100-200 ...
don't buy a swiss eta from a dealer unless its someone like BK, and chris @ eurotimez, d4m...
the rest aren't 100% sure of what your getting.
Buy an eta clone and you know what you've got !

or If a good member sells a watch and says its eta swiss they normally take pics of the movement and post em to prove it..

thanks, if you can point me to a dealer I would be interested.

Not sure I understand your "eta clone = + $60-110 .. eta "swiss = +100-200 "

Do you mean base price of $138+60/100=$198/$238 for ETAclone and
$138+100/200=$238/$338 for genuine ETA ?

I need to find a topic comparing ETAclone to ETA too!
