Last month I got my first package from Silix. He had a couple of things I couldn't find anywhere else. So I gave him a go. But unfortunately the package I received didn't contain my items, but someone else's Oris. Silix explained that I had mistakenly received a package meant for another customer in the UK. And someone in the US had received mine (I was in the UK at the time). No worries, I said, shit happens. I asked him for the address and mailed the Oris to the UK customer a day or two later. I didn't even ask for a refund or anything. In the meantime, Silix ensured me the customer in the US would forward my package on to me. Great, I thought. So I waited... and waited... and waited...

... waited... [smilie=sleepy3.gif]

I'm still waiting. I sent the watch to Silix's customer in the UK some time in September. As of today, no word on mine from the US. WTF? So I emailed Silix and he explains that as of 14 October (so about three weeks later!) the guy in the US still hasn't posted my parcel because he wants his shipping costs covered before sending it, and he hasn't gotten around to getting a quote yet. Thanks pal! [smilie=hello2.gif]

So, if you're the guy with my stuff in the US - and I'm sure you know if you are - I wish I could tell you off and rudely ask you to get your ass into gear. But you have my stuff, so I'm going to be very respectful... Can you please post my stuff? Pleeeeease? Look, if Silix doesn't cover you, I will. Just send it already. Thanks a lot.

I MY OPINION, THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE ASKED BOTH PARTIES TO MAIL BACK TO HIM. ONCE YOU MAILED IN THE WRONG GOODS, THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE MAILED YOU THE CORRECT GOODS. REGARDLESS IF THE OTHER PARTY SENT IT TO HIM OR NOT.

JUST MY $.02.....

AND THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE COVERED ALL COSTS FOR SHIPPING....

Maybe, but what happened to human nature? If Rooster was good enough to mail the goods to the other person, shouldn't they have the manners to repeat the gesture...

this doesn't surprise me. i have had to return packages to ruby before because the customer wouldn't pay the shipping to china from the usa. she would have them send it to me which is about 5.00 and i would have to send it to her. i have done it several times, there are some people out their that do no try and get along at all. i have read many emails that were down right hateful and threatening. i don't like this and if you don't do this i am going to do this bla bla bla.

in the end this is silex's problem and i am sure he will handle it as soon as he sees they aren't going to do it.

sorry to hear this problem man but you know how it is, some people are like, it's all about me and nobody else. :?

Having dealt with Rooster on a trust basis, I know exactly why he sent the watch and then expected the other customer to do the same. That's the kind of guy he is, and he just did not think the other person involved was going to be an asshole. Rooster I would contact Silix and tell him politely that the good faith is nearing the end and it is now his turn to make this right.

I AGREE WITH WHAT HAPPENED TO HUMAN NATURE. UNFORTUNATELY, WHEN DEALING WITH PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW, YOU JUST CAN NOT TRUST THAT IT EXISTS. TO PREVENT YOURSELF FROM BEING PUT INTO A POSITION LIKE THIS, I WOULD HAVE ONLY AGREED TO SEND IT BACK TOT HE DEALER IN EXCHANGE HE SEND ME THE PROPER WATCH PROMPTLY.

NOW THAT SAID, IF THE NAMES OF THOSE INVOLVED WERE RELEASED AND THEY WERE VERIFIED TO BE ON THE UP AND UP FROM REPUTATION, THEN I WOULD HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM EXCHANGING WITH THE CUSTOMER THAT HAD MY WATCH.

JUST DEPENDS ON THE SITUATION.

Happened with me & a shipment from Ruby. I sent my package on to England, & he sent his to me. Met a nice guy that way.

Ruby offered to reimburse us both for costs & we both just told her to give us a good deal next time.

They're not all bad out there. Sorry you ran into a jerk!

Thanks guys... It really does suck... I will try to email Silix again and see what can be done. I still haven't heard from him since my last email, so I'm not holding my breath. But having said that, despite the screw up, he's been fairly good and apologetic about this, though perhaps not as proactive as he could have been. I'll keep you posted on the developments.

Just a quick update.

Silix emailed me today. His email was one of the nicest and most sympathetic attempts to resolve a problem that I have seen in a while. Good on him. He said he sent the guy in the US the postage money but hasn't heard from him in two days. So the little shit now has watches and money!! Silix is preparing my order again and will send it out to me if he doesn't hear from the bastard soon enough. He also offered me a free watch from his low-end site as compensation, and a discount on my next order. I think it's quite a nice offer, and hopefully I will get my stuff soon too.

Will continue to keep you posted. And if the dude in the US rips Silix off I will ask him to tell me his name, so I can post it here and we can all stay clear of the wanker.

He needs to get the info for the guy to you. Is that person a member here? If so they need to be tarred and feathered.

Honour among thieves
Not that we are thieves, but our hobby isn't exactly legal.
We form such a tight community for many reasons, friendship and information.. but also protection. If we all decided to rip each other off.. our community and hobby would die very quickly.
Its sad when you find someone who is only looking out for themselves like that.
grrr gets me mad.

Yeah, no kidding!! And to top it all off today I picked up a Navitimer that I bought a couple of months ago but never wore because the bracelet was too small. I finally slapped it on the wrist for the first time and after 10 minutes one of the hands came off. I guess it's still under warranty, but still... That sucks. So yeah, I'm not having much luck these days...

@H_U: you're right. It's absolutely outrageous. Just to clarify though, he received my watches and I received someone else's watch. The person I forwarded the watch to is not the same person who got mine. So I assume this guy in the US got his own watches, mine, and now Silix's money. If he pulls a runner I'm going to insist that Silix give me his name and will post it here.

Ok, time for an update...

After a lot more emailing etc the watches eventually arrived two days ago from the moron in the US. So that's over two months from placing my order. I'm thinking "finally this is over", open the package, and lo and behold, one of the two watches is wrong and the other one is broken. Just awesome! So I contact Silix who tells me to send them back to him and he'll replace them. To the original compensation offer he adds another free cheapie: so now I can get a 5% discount on my next purchase plus two crappy Asian watches for free. There were only two or three crappy watches that I could have accepted from him but they're out of stock. So I asked him: why don't I just keep the wrong watch he sent (could use it as a Christmas gift), which in the end is worth pretty much like the discount & two watches compensation package he's offering. No response yet. Up to that point he was replying to every email within 5 minutes. As soon as I asked that... silence.

Guys, I will continue to keep you posted, but this is turning into a massive joke. Hope Silix will come through in the end. This is when you can tell a dealer who cares from someone who doesn't give a toss. Hope he'll demonstrate that he's one of the former...

Maybe for him its an issue of trust?
I can see why he might not want to do it.
If you send the broken watch back, then he has it, knows its broken and might b able to fix it/ resell it.
If you keep it, and he sends you a replacement then he has no real way of knowing the watch is broken, minus your word.

Now I think given your situation, silix should consider what you've been through and just try to make best of this whole mess. Which seems like allowing you to keep this watch wouldn't be a big deal.

What I'm actually suggesting is to keep the wrong watch, not the broken one (I want to post the broken one back to him). When you sum up his offers (i.e., two cheap watches and a discount on my next purchase) they almost equal the value of the wrong watch he sent me. This is why I suggested that after all this ordeal, if he really wants to make amends, I should just keep something I already have in my hands and that I kind of like, as opposed to two pieces of crap and a discount that I still have to wait for and am not even interested in. That's if he really wants to recompense me for this mess, of course.
