This watch now comes with Tropic 39 Flat Top, relumed dial and hands (these glow brightly, considered as blasphemy in vintage world), Classicwathpart (michael Young's insert) with relumed pearl too. I will swap it with genuine Rolex insert soon. Case is MBW, standard.

Unfortunately, crown broke... Need a replacement. I have the parts ready and will do soon.

I have gen 93150 bracelet... but the endlink, I think stock MBW endlink fits the best.

More modifications Comex 1665

:p The caseback is MBW stock, black paint slightly removed. You can use nail polish for that.

Anyway, here is the result after gen crown installation (it's a modern Triplock 703 not the vintage one) and casework. Still need to work on He valve modding (easy job later on) and lug holes drilling. I have gen 93150 bracelet but sadly I can't resize it to fit my wrist perfectly. I am happy with stock endlinks and stock bracelet. It's still a rep afterall!

Well... can't really tell you as I was taught by someone else ;) Sorry. It's a trade secret. Remember, there are 3 people who have hands on this watch plus numerous sources.

I will ask the source first if I can post the steps on the forum.

This one is classicwatch parts,

I always liked this model...Very nice looking takashi. Is classicwatch parts an internet seller?? I'm trying to locate a #19 tropic for a 1680 but can't locate one anywhere. Clarks watch parts on eBay does not seem to have one at the moment, so still searching.

Well they do have a #19 but it's for the 5510 5508 5512 5513 models, so I'm not sure it will fit on my 1680. :?
And for $90.00 it's a lot more money than Clark's prices.

crystals and dials are astronomically profitable for sellers..

vintage rolex dials go for $400 - they are advertised as 'refinished' - what a joke, as all they need to do is have

a screen of one original, then they can make as many as they like.. and to consider that a dial can be refinished

for under $50.00

is pretty much the same with crystals, just as we buy 'counterfeit' watches, crystals are counterfeited also, to include

packaging markings.. the one on eBay are fakes.. and they sell for big bucks because they are called

'vintage'

interesting thing about 'vintage' dials.. in a gen watch, should one have dial refinished', value of watch drops dramatically..

is all good clean fun!

shame, because within the rep world there does exist the expertise, and technology, to rep both dials and crystals..

problem is likely one of volume.. interest, time, etc.. from what I have observed, the vast majority of 'vintage' parts

are replicas, sold for exorbitant prices..

Life is Good!

You are right on the website address :) Agree on refinished dial on eBay (NDTrading and such) are all fakes.
@cybee: I saw gen Tropic 19 a few days ago on eBay. I am pretty sure it's gen. Sold for 50 bucks. Don't know why Classicwatchparts replacement crystal (which I think not genuine, costs that much). Bought my T39 for 60 Eur too.

If you are talking about Superdome, I have yet to find one below 300USD now.

PS: If you know a watchmaker who has Rolex account, he can order it for you at much lower price. Sadly I don't have one but the insert costs about 50 Eur (gen) and the crystal costs about the same.

There are many parts which Rolex can't supply you anymore such as silver DW, tritium hands, pearl, etc. That's why the price becomes ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^.

recall that superdomes were also faked.. now, is this a bad thing? if meets original specs, and fits well?

trouble is pricing, as you mention, taka..

the superdomes some time back were made by a European company who copied an original supplied by a board

member.. who sold all of them at a good price..

and, NT Trading.. lol.. $400 for a dial that cost them around $25.00 to produce.. not bad.. people will pay

sad because, as mentioned, it would not be difficult to reproduce to order, one needs but find the company

who can/will do the work.. this would go a long way to provide dials not only for vintage, but for any...

surprised that someone in rep world has not seen the potential profitability, for they could sell not only to rep world

but on FakeBay also..

The present sellers of these faked items could easily be undercut, and great profit realized in the process..

is math, is all..

Indeed Klink, it is very true. Yeah, have seen that "fake T39 SuperDome" and am having a hard time to tell from the gen article.

Why redial costs 400 bucks when something much more elaborate dial like on Big Bang or Chopard rep probably costs 1/100 of that to make.
