Maxse next time tell the person to go screw themselves and not to bother you and if he keeps talking shit about you to go lick a lampost to see if it tastes real.

I like your answer JCM.

guys I totally understnad that I have a rep. But I am 99% sure that it is impossible to call it out on the wrist. Especially since I dont ever recall standing next to this guy. The only way it can be called out from a distance is that AR (which Im taking care of on the next AR run ;) so I thought I would get called out on that and I figured he wants to hold the watch to show me the lac of AR in direct sunlight! But he didnt... That's why I'm pissed.

Also once he started to change the hour hand he said one thing the chinese could not replicate is when you hold the watch looking at it and turn the crown forawrd the hour hand is supposed to go clockwise not counter as on my watch...

But how the f*ck could he tell that by looking at it???

I can aford the gen if I really wanted to but I dont believe in spending so much $$ for a watch especially since the rep is this good. I figured no way I would get called out while on wrist especially once I get AR done. I was really ready to have a fun convo about reps with this guy once he called me out on the AR font, 't' but damn...

I have a f**khead at work who did this with my Ultimate PO w/ orange bezel.

I think word has gotten out from a few people I hang with that I have some class A reps (yeah my fault) -so I think this is where he got the balls to say it (plus he is a supervisor--but is a loudmouth--I dont want to bore you with work details, but he isnt that far up the food chain :) )

Anyway, the sad thing is, I can afford a gen PO at $3k, but I choose not to, as the reps are just as good and I have other more important bills : daycare, home repair and remodelling, VIP section at RWI :)

F 'em they all suck and have gnat balls and tiny pee pees :) or why else would they need to feel like a tough guy and call you out?

I agree maxse - I've held a gen breit bent side by side w a breit bent rep and sure you can tell, but it doesnt "scream fake from 50 yards" Give me a break...who was this guy, Clark Kent?!?

To me, the CLEAR give away is the bracelet, its engraving is no where as crisp and deep. Other then that and the date font, unless you are Mr. Breitling or his wtachsmith, its a pretty dayum good rep!

Guy was a douch (and probably immature or at least under 25), but there are some key questions here...

How old are you? What do you do for a living? What kind of car do you drive??

All of these things certainly play into whether you can carry off a watch as bling as the GT...

ie. if you're under 30 and drive a Civic, most people who know watches (and thus the value of such a watch) will assume it's a rep.

I don't even bother trying to pass a rep off as a gen. If someone asks, I tell them straight out it's a rep.

I might screw with them for a minute, but that's just for personal enjoyment ;)

And if you do want to pass it off as a gen for whatever reason and it's out of your budget, just say it was a gift. Then act surprised and say I doubt my (insert obscure relative here) would purchase a fake.

you should have told him to whip out his dick, so you could show him how much of a little girl he was.

that line of thinking doesn't work where i live. here you will see somebody wearing an day date and some overalls driving an old truck and the watch is real. he has been out checking his oil wells. i had a good friend of mine bought his first day date when he was 21. don't ever confuse money with nice cloths and a fancy car. it will get you into trouble every time. you know what they say about assuming something.

just say you got it from your father who died of cancer and every day you wear it reminds you of the bond you two had. that will hurt more than a kick in the balls.

edit - i apologize if any of this offends you.

It doesn't work that way. I know a guy at the local Wal Mart garage that has a genuine Datejust and I know lot of people driving shiny new cars living on credit and paying off one credit card with another one.

damn this is making me realize more and more what an a-hole this guy is. I just wasn't confident enough because I thought since he called me out from far away he must have noticed the AR. But now in retro-spect I think I should have not taken it off and with an attitude said something like so tell me why you think it is fake and if he says something that's not a flaw then just be like ::sarcastic arrogant voice:: maybe you should consider a different field?

It's just that I was soo disarmed and ready to have a convo about reps. Especially since he's a jewler I thought it would be cool to hear what he has seen. But I was sure it was because of the AR, but get this he actually said the crystal was good!!!!! It's just that I was too intimitated by this guys since he's a jewler but whatever.

A car wouldnt have made the difference because he had no idea what car I drive or anything. I feel stupid now for pretending to be upset and "thanking" him for pointing this out to me so that I can take it up with whomever I bought the watch from.

think about this, what kind of jeweler would take a watch off of your wrist in an unclean and uncontrolled environment and try to crack open a 7,000.00 watch and expose it to dust and dirt in the atmosphere of an outside party? what if it was real and he dropped it in the dirt and grass?

he was an idiot. if he didn't notice the lack of ar he was just guessing. you can't readily see the fonts and engravings in that setting.

sounds more like jack daniels talking than a professional jeweler doesn't it?

He is not an asshole for spotting (or thinking he can spot) a fake... why would someone go around and tell people about some other guys wrist?

Good point.

Maybe someone commented on my watch and he said it was fake out of jelousy? I don't know. I that's what pissed me off. That he told a bunch of people without even talking to me.

I think this whole unfortunate incident is not about the watch anymore... It's about an arrogant behavior of a jeweller towards a stranger. Of all professions, I have thought that a jeweller would be one that carries some class and true courtesy. Obviously this one is himself a fake! They should include a 'General Ethique & Manner' module in the jeweller's education/training. This 7-year experienced seems to be lacking most of it. Where did he get his 7 years experience from? The Russian black market?

Again I must emphasize... even if he is that good to identify a fake, what good is he doing telling the world 'hey this guy wears a fake' when he's also telling everyone 'hey I will tell the world you're wearing a fake'. Obviously this guy's bad at busines as well...

Lighten up. When he tells people around him about your watch, he's probably turning them to avoid him like a wart than to bother knowing if your watch is really a fake.
