I have a non-SLR and a PoS: Panasonic DMC-FZ20 and Finepix 3MP thing. Oh, and a Hoya polariser and a couple of tripes.

...my grandfather actually did buy it in the 1920's or 30's. But it has not been used in about 60 years.

my real camera is very humbling Nikon 4100. Grandpa would be proud to see his camera on the Dark Side. :)

It ain't the size of the pencil...it's the beautiful words one writes with it.

If that ain't the case...don't make me list all my shit. It would make you sick. But all that aside - I have seen people use an oatmeal box to create more amazing images than people with hundreds of thousands of $$$$$ worth of gear.

"Who you gonna satisfy with THAT?

ME!!!!"

rbarr27,

You have the best photographic gear here in this forum. I guess. I am still learning how to take good pictures of my reps. Could you please show us your work?

Thank you.

I don't usually shoot watches - easy to talk about technique - not as easy to actually pull it off! My other stuff is kinda boring - but fun for memories. My stuff is wider angled - architecture, travel, lifestyle. Jewelry is a whole other ball game.

My H1 stuff - I actually rent it out and tech jobs with it more than I personally use it. Seems kinda odd, but you'd be suprised. Paying gigs are tough to come by, so when you can get a chunk of someone elses paying gig - it's fun. Plus you can learn from them - and you save them the $30,000 to buy the gear and the learning curve some of this software requires.

Everyone with a camera in NY is a photographer - and I have been on many jobs that people have gotten because a friend hooked them up. I come in to clean up the mess and provide the usable files at the end of the day. Can't say the images recorded in those files by some of these "photographers" were any good or sold any products, but they were usable from my stand point.

Thats why I like to see pictures here. People having to figure it out for the fun of actually doing it. Just look at the light box recipes! Fantastic. On the other hand though - if I tried that on a paying gig - I might not ever see another paying gig - but here it is fantastic. And why pull out a Hasselblad H1 if my camera phone gets my picture across?

If I have a set up that is conducive to shooting watches I will set one up and post a file. The smallest ones off my H1 are about 48megabytes. The 22 megapixel files are quite a bit larger - and when you squash them down for web - why bother? But when you jack them up to 48-inches on a side - you will see where megapixels matter.

KEEP SHOOTING!!!

Odd that you'd shoot a picture of your Nikon with a 20D...regardless, at 2.8, it still looks great to me, Dukie...
