Ok gentle readers. I just received my new Sinn U1 from my TD, Mr. Toro. As always he sent me an excellent piece. This is my 9th Rep, that keeps many of my Gens company. I'm starting to clean out my inventory, and wanted to see if this Sinn U1 will be a permanent resident.

So in my brash arrogance I decided to let everyone know what is being delivered today in August 2015.

1. I found the quality as advertised very nice, the color of the stainless is much darker than expected

2. A simple gentle shake and it started and has run (wearing it) for 2 weeks now

3. Has good/decent power reserve.

4. Seems to be spot on as far as speed, pretty much dead on. Maybe 2-7 seconds a day fast, which for a Rep is damn good!

5. The AR is excellent as others have said

6. The weight/mass of the watch/strap on my wrist is balanced, what I mean here is the mass of the watch Vs. the mass of the clasp/buckle with the way the rubber strap it stays centered on my wrist, it does not "sag"

7. While I like the buckle/clasp for the way it operates, I dislike the wrist diameter adjustment aspects of this design, in fact I'll go on record in saying it sucks.

7B. When adjusting this band initially you cut the rubber, equally per side, no issue there, but once adjusted it can be 1 notch lose from wrist and it wears like a metal band, ok not bad, but not like a real rubber band, adjust the band with firm tightness on your wrist, and yes it's ok, but while the band is now fitted, but what if you start working out you have to buy another rubber strap as the strap has no fine adjustment to it. This is want I do not like. With me, it's either tight or lose. And once adjusted for tight, there's no coming back..:phbbbbt:

8. This watch has a "as-stated" Swiss Eta 2836-2 Auto movement, 28800bhp and I have so far no reason to dispute this, I will pull the back off in the next couple of weeks to confirm. It sounds a little different than the Asian 2836-2's when a gentle shake to wind I have to admit it's a nice movement so far.

9. The LUM as many said is decent, almost bright, wrong color, but the decent almost bright aspect makes up for the wrong color IMHO.

10. Even with the supplied strap I find the weight actually nice, light compared to my Breitling's, lol!!

11. This watch is pleasant to look at on my wrist, I like the face/hands very much. I enjoy the simplicity of design, the execution from the Gen to this Rep is IMHO very nice. especially for a Rep with a stated Swiss movement under $240.00, Sweet!!

So moving forward with this Sinn U1 I'm already buying a 22mm new soft rubber strap from Strapped for Time, with a standard buckle. As I feel that this watch deserves a band that can be adjusted, easily.

(Sidebar) I like a rubber strap that fits firm/solid, but nothing that restricts circulation and feels like a second skin, my daily beater is a Blacksteel Skyland Avenger 45mm with an soft rubber strap (not the super hard one that comes on this watch)

Thanks for reading
M

Very often and please anyone correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the (Asian) A2836 is a new movement though not great quality and the Swiss eta s from China that we pay more for are yes Swiss at least some parts are but they are rebuilt used refurbished units which in my opinion we are paying more for a lesser movement compared to a A2836 or A2824.
I have had nothing but bad experiences with Chinese Swiss movements and I'm not here to thread crap , I am here to educate. I learned my lesson by wasting money on repairs when I should have gone direct to Otto Frei and bought a new Swiss movement and any other necessary parts. Don't ask your watch maker to get the movement, get it yourself and ship it along with the watch.

this being said your movement may last years. Again they are all different qualities. BK of course his watches come with real new Swiss movements. TC I think his movement is American made or at least some of it is. Do your research. Toro is a great dealer no doubt about it.

:headdesk::daffy:pictures please its just a photobucket away!!!!!

You insight on Swiss Vs. Asian to the best of my knowledge is 100% correct. I'm quietly interested on this mechanisms longevity.

I have bought through BK, starting years ago and know quality does not come cheap, yet I am pleased with most all Asian movements that I've purchased, even 7750's lol!

I will download Pic's tomorrow when the Sinn is in front of me.:punk:

Not much to report other than what most other have made mention of.
VERY low reserve power. Yet compared to all my other Reps I find it comfortable easy on the eyes, and I've been using a soft rubber band as the supplied band does not adjust well at all, looks good but does not wear well for me.
Thinking of having it cleaned and re-lumed as for some reason I like this watch a lot, and got over 12 others to pick from....

Still trying to find a way to load pictures!

Have had issues last year posting pictures, yet honestly they (Sinn U1) all look the same that I've seen here, assembled by most likely the same place. Suffice to say among all my Rep's 12+ I like the Sinn U1 the most, on a black rubber/neoprene band. It wears small compared to its diameter.
As mentioned last year the supplied rubber band I thought were cool looking but the adjustment aspect left it IMHO worthless.
My power reserve was lousy, as with my desk job i am not as active as others. Mine would die overnight many nights. But when running it keeps excellent time, very accurate piece. This could have been attributed to a dirty mechanism prior to assembly.

I still want to get my Sinn U1 cleaned/lubed and re-lumed as it is easy on the eyes, and its design in my eyes is a very cool

Wow, have not been on for ages but I did finally download a photo of mine.
Again my thoughts, as always. The band has crappy adjustments, nice looking but useless for me. Not reserve unless I wear 24 hrs a day and very active!
It is still my favorite Rep, as it has a very clean look, and nicely waterproof. When I can I'm going to have it cleaned to see if that helps the power reserve

Hey mate great pictures!
Does yours have a stutter on the seconds hand?
What movement did you go with?

No the second hand sweeps smooth and consistent.
Movement supposed to be a Swiss ETA 2836-2. I purchased this Sinn from a TD from this site that I've bought 6 other Reps from.

I really like the looks of it, though the lume is weak, and no power reserve as I have to wind it to get it moving. I wish I had a decent reasonably priced automatic repair person on Portland Oregon. As a clean and adjustment up here is $225.00, in my cheap mind that's a bit much.
