Help needed in choosing factory made PAMs

Dear all,

I am overloaded with all the models for PAMs. There are like oceans of it and i seriously dont know which manufacturer to choose from. Well, i had a rough perspective on the PAMs that i particularly like, ie the Radiomir blackseal type with grey dial and brown strap (be it light brown or dark brown) or the Luminor Marinas s as long as it has a grey/brown dial with brown strap. Actually damn i love most of the PAMs, like 90% of it.. except for the chronos as i prefer simplicity in Panerais.

I tried looking at reviews on comparison of different factory made reps, and i understand that no one factory is perfect. At times, Noob Factory might be good in one, and H Maker might be better in another. Generally, i see that most of the guys here choose to go with N Factory. However, not all models have comparison between different makers..

So bottom line, how do u all here choose which factory made reps to go for? Do u all normally stick to one factory made rep? Or jumping around just to score which produce the better rep?

when you say radiomir with grey dial and brown strap, do you mean this one? :



if so, this was made by KW, not noob/hfactory, and its model number is 346. it has a titanium case, tobacco dial and gold hands. oh and fyi, it is not a "black seal" radiomir.

and as for the luminor marinas with grey/brown dial and brown strap, you're most likely looking at either the pam 351:

all also made of titanium and tobacco dial and brown strap, but only the 351 has gold hands, 562 and 564 have black hands, and all made by KW as well.

there are older titanium luminors with tobacco dial and brown strap (176/177) made by noob, also super reps if I remember correctly, but I think they're pretty much sold out everywhere.

another luminor with brown dial is the pam 390, has gold hands as well but the best option right now according to Ale's criteria is the one made by noob:

as for which factory to choose, i would say KW is definitely the go to for the newer luminors, as well as a lot of new releases from them, such as the 312/351/388/505/346. IMHO it could be said that KW is the "in" watch factory now as they are/have been releasing a lot of new amazing quality reps for a while now. Noob has made several "super reps" such as the 005, 026, 111, 318, 390, 243 (submersible), 292J (ceramic blackseal radiomir), 127, but you'll definitely need a lot of luck to source these noob super reps as most of them have been out of stock for a while except the 005/111/390.

on the other hand, H has made arguably one of the best reps out there, the 288 radiomir chronograph, as well as several other pams that noob has made, and generally at lower prices than noob's, make of that what you will. at the end of the day, each factory has its pros and cons but ultimately it's up to you based on taste/budget.

There is a Pam guide made by Ale which provide information on almost all rep pam for it quality and finishing, go take a look and it will surely help you a lot on choosing a Pam.

special thanks to nicktan182 for making time to write that for me.. really appreciated it lots!!! i will take into consideration all the suggestion u made.. just gotta browse a bit more for my favorite PAM. shit i think im poisoned by the replicas lol and wait till i have more greenbacks to get myself a GEN!!!!

and to Ale, im sorry i missed out the PAM review guide lol and created this lousy thread.. i spent the whole night browsing through the guide.. still overloaded with the available PAM models hahaha.. but its a darn good guide for newbies like me, at least it shed some light now and i just got to narrow down my choices..

haha no worries mate just happy to help a fellow addict HAHA. the 390 is definitely one of the best reps out there at the moment, and with the closed caseback its harder to expose that it is a rep.

errrr the best versions of the 359 and 505 currently are the ones with the seagull movement. the one you ppsted from toro's website is the older version with the a7750 movement, and its widely known the seagull movement is more reliable, the watches with it are also about $100 cheaper than the a7750 ones. wrt to the finish and quality of the watches, of course they are the best you're going to get. there was a thread some days ago comparing a gen 359 to the kw359 and to me the differences are so minute it's scary.

the 505 in particular has an excellent sand-blasted finish like the gen, very high quality stuff. but then it's stainless steel dlc coated, not actual composite like the gen, so there is a weight difference. also, the seagull movement although more accurate, is still not like the gen at all because the balance wheel is at 6 oclock, whereas the gen is at 7. same goes for the 359. at least in the 505 the tinted caseback maybe helps hide it a little. in addition, the inscription "CAL. P9000 is also inverted, so movement accuracy is not 100%. but all that aside, the 505 is a brilliant rep. really nice and well made and for less than $300, really good value for money. the 388 is also another amazing beautiful watch, like the 505 but in stainless steel instead. worth checking it out too imo.

LOL damn im now a Panerai addict.. just got to build up my knowledge on the PAMs. hope to learn more from all the seniors here, u all are really damn good and well versed in Panerais.

PAM 505
I prefer KW over ZFac for some well based reasons IMO. Crystal is the most decisive. I have had both watches during two months in my hands. Asking people about their preferences between two watches (blind test, of course and many people without PAM knowlegde) more 95% preferred KW without doubts.

Appreciate your great write up again, kudos to u my man!!

The PAM390 from HMaker is indeed a bargain at only $175.. looks like i'll be struggling between the Noob and the HMaker now again lol.. but the dealer to go for this is definitely Toro and he seems like he had a tonnes of good reviews!!

As for the PAM505, both KW and ZFac indeed have their own pros and cons, like u always said, no one is perfect. For me at the moment, its really too technical to understand both the pros and cons of KW and Zfac. But i guess i'll make the choice for the KW!!

so back to the dealer part that Ale mentioned, in your experience, which dealer do u think is honest and truthful when dealing with? I am currently looking at the below dealers as suggested by ur PAM Guide for the PAM505:
