That's so bizarre. Makes me worry about taking photos of my PO when it comes in :cower:

So I approved QC on the new Dial today, and I also took the rest of the watch apart.

The assembly of the watch was a bit unexpected for me (anything would be really, it's the first time I really take apart an automatic watch).

I'm not sure I quite understand how the movement holder holds the movement into place, and the dial feet are actually not clipping or anything, but are rather simply press-fitted into the movement holder.

I feel like I'll have a hard time re-aligning everything properly...

Oh well...

That's where I'm at.

Now waiting for the dial, and a hands presser tool.

Any tips to clean the inner-crystal? Where was condensation and I tried to clean it using microfiber, but it left traces...

This sounds like a chocolate fire guard moment, I'm amazed and puzzled at the same time with this info

Good job mate. You are on track.

I use medical alcohol wipes to clean crystals. Available cheap on the bay. Careful not to let the alcohol near any paint or ink on the watch! You never know.

Am I the only one thinking there is no way the flash melted this dial??!! Maybe I am under estimating the power of his flash. Just seems crazy to me.

I was taking Macro pictures with my DSLR, and it seems the flash melted the paint on the dial and the date wheel on the date of today.

Um, no, no it didn't. Not possible, never happened. There is no way a flash gun will melt anything.
Anyway, why would you be taking flash pics of a watch? Come on, fess up, what really happened?

Was that the new Canon 380 flash version modified by Q Branch?

That's exactly what happened.

Have you even read the thread? Someone linked to a post in another forum with a different watch having the same issue, and to a youtube video of the flash burning (lightly) different things.

I wish I had known beforehand, I never could have imagined it would do that, it's a very expensive and frustrating mistake.

Man, you better not use it to take a picture of your girlfriend. Not only will it steal her soul, it'll set her hair on fire faster than Michael Jackson in a Pepsi commercial!

Thanks a lot KnOx! I think this solution where the dial feet are outside the movement is only because the dateweel overlay that make its impossible to fit them to the movement. I'm making the preparations for my project right now so its good to know how the watch internals is built up with movement ring etc..

Yeah, I think you are right, it would have to be in the center of the movement, and it's a busy place!

The one thing I am worried about when it'll be time to re-assemble is to re-alignt movement in holder, then whole assembly in case so that everything lines up...

We'll see!
