99.9 percent of the time there is no need to even have that conversation for me. They have never heard of AP lol.
Now I am complimented on my rolex or iwc reps, but because people know that I can afford to buy them. That's why they never question their authenticity as well.

Luckily, the people around me consider it impolite to ask how much something costs.

If someone asks me how much my watch costs (if they aren't a friend) I immediately move them to the dirtbag list. Then, I tell them whatever I feel like telling them at the time, without guilt.

I do not care anymore: rep = gen.
See: William Gaddis' "The Recognitions" + Jean Baudrillard, "Simulation and Simulacra."
No need for any guilt: the gen manufacturers are blood-sucking dandy cliques.

Some things that could help: The thing is you need to wear your rep with confidence, you shouldn't brag/rub it in peoples faces because it seems like a defence mechanism and it also seems it's obviously a big deal to you. You also have to be realistic sometimes because some reps such as Richard Mille cost the same as a new Bentley, so it's hard to pull that off depending on your lifestyle. Luckily, I don't get asked much, just compliments which I reply with just a smile lol. Your confidence and maturity normally makes people not to have to ask much questions too. If you're quite young (under 21 years old) then it makes it quite obvious that it's either not yours or it's a rep. At the end of the day it's a hobby and it's really nobody's business as long as it makes you happy.

It's been said bunch of times and it all boils down to how you carry yourself and how confident you are in your self. I have been asked by somebody how much was my watch and I told him before he asked me another question. I told him that it was none of his business how much my watch cost me. It was in an elevator and I had never seen that dumbass before. He asked me about my seiko sarb that I had on.

If you have the reputation of buying Gen watches (Not refering Gen Seiko and Casio) and occasionally buy some insane priced AP Reps.
People will ask. I will tell them its AP ROO XXXXX , u go google it.
