I just recently pulled the trigger and bought another member's sub (thanks Niaga!) to see what the all the fuss was about TC's Subs and received it this afternoon. I first must confess that I am a total nooooob in regards to Rolex knowledge so please, don't expect expert comparative comments of how many microns thicker is the font, the crown guards and the likes. i can only share my general feeling about the watch and the gen feel and finish.
First, I need to say this is my first attempt at a 40mm watch, I'm a big 6.3' guy so the need for something 42/44mm and above is usually am must but since buying a gen Speedy pro, I'm feeling a bit more comfortable to wear smaller, classic watches. Let's see how long I can convince myself this one is a reasonable choice
Here are my impressions about the watch and a bit of eye candy, no pictures of the bracelet (sorry), I absolutely hate steel bracelets so I put this IMMEDIATELY on one of my leather NATOs as this gives more humpf! and volume on the wrist. Overall feel is pretty good, everything looks and feel solid, especially the crown (notch angles), stem and tube, this is all VERY gen like. Bezel (with gen insert) clicks crisply and tight with no play, once it's clicked, there is no turning back by a single micron (very impressive). I admit I haven't really set eyes on a gen cyclops but this little lens magnifies plenty and the crystal is super clear. Dial is absolutely perfect with superb lume application. I haven't checked the authenticity of the "swiss" stated movement or performed a pressure test yet, this will happen this weekend with my friend's equipment but a rudimentary timing test shows this movement keeps reasonably good time so far.
Overall top notch little watch here. Wouldn't dare show up at a Rolex AD to do a side by side pictoral (hehehe, I can just imagine the shit storm that would hit me here if I said I would...) but that thing exudes quality and a true quest for excellence.
