Hi guys, a quick question here iro regulating the 2836.

I have a spare movement that is running a bit fast and which the regulating screw is at the max '-'.

So i am thinking of moving the regulator stud (green arrow below).
Do I move it towards the stud carrier (blue), or away, to slow the movement down?

Thanks.

move the green arrow pin left for slow. a little goes a long long way on these pins.

doesnt matter, you can do it either way.. its probably safer if you hack it. just in case you slip... but dont slip :D

looking at the picture as it is this is not correct, moving it "to the left" would speed up the movement. moving the regulator towards the bigger stud slows the movement. (make the space between the two smaller to slow)

moving the regulator further away from the bigger stud speeds up the movement.
(make the space between the two bigger to speed up)

I screwed up the movement I guess :p
Time to get a replacement hairspring to replace it!

I moved the green arrow part left and right to try to get a good timing, but the hairspring seems to be off center now, and doesnt really spin freely.

I will try to take a pic tomorrow to show what i mean.

cwazy was right about one thing, the regulator arm only needs to be just barely moved. i use a loupe when doing this and go for an almost imperceptible move, that's all that's required. if you were swinging it around like a boss you could have a problem there.

Yeah I was moving it quite a bit, guess that is why the hair spring got screwed. Gonna get some Asian clone parts to repair this. :)

So in the end i replaced the hairspring, but since I lack the equipment to regulate it, got it sold as parts. :)

Just to confirm again, the closer the 2 stud, the slowing the timing, and the further the 2, the faster it is?

Look at it this way and you will never get it wrong, the sorter the spring, the faster it vibrates. Think about an elastic rod or a guitar string, when you slide the fingers down to shorten it's length, the faster it vibrates. Same thing when moving the regulator.

old thread but really helpful. thanks for the drawing!

another way to remember which way to move the arm that easy to remember by looking at the +/- markings on movement: it's opposite the markings on the right side because it pivots around the jewel.

or, like a clock, + marking @3 is clockwise so gross level @10 would also be clockwise (up)
