Wow that's awesome.
I've been shopping for my golf set.
Trying to get back into it after not playing golf for 15 years.

Hey guys, lets try a different tack. Golf is cool but the argument sux.

What do you guys think about giving back civil rights to convicted felons? Should they be able to vote? How about being able to own a firearm? Even after 20 years of being clean???? Or are they all still useless scum bag assholes?

Hhhmmm... That's interesting topic.
Question - giving back civil rights, while in prison? I don't think felons are stripped of any civil rights, except freedom. Can they vote, being in prison? Definitely, if they're citizens of USA.
Firearms? Depend on crime. If a 16 y/old boy stole a brick of bread, because he was hungry - yes. If it's a murderer - definitely no.

No, felons can't vote...........At least not in any State that I know of.

No I'm talking about after they are released. In Florida, and many States, particularly Red states, they make it very difficult for convicted felons to have their civil rights restored. Once again, it's because a large percentage of felons are blacks and the Republican governors in the South don't want them to be able to vote. Our previous governor Charlie Crist made it easy for released felons to have their civil rights restored and then our latest governor (Scott) rescinded the law to make it almost impossible. In Florida you used to be able to get back your right to vote in a year or two, but good luck with ever getting your right to go hunting again.

But, at the same time, most of the Southerners love the 2nd amendment even more and they hate stripping any one of the right to bear arms. Kind of a catch 22. I think it was in Louisiana that they overturned a law about felons and guns and decided that even if they were convicted felons, they still had the right to carry firearms. I find it all very bizarre.

Every time I thought I was out................
They pull me back innnnn

If government thinks a man is rehabilitated and is fit to be a part of civilized society again , he should have his rights back. He should be able to vote. Now if he/she was in prison for violent crime, no guns.

Damn, somebody deleted my post... OK, I'll repeat.
If a convict served his time, paid his debt to society - his civil rights must be restored immediately after release from jail. Double jeopardy rule - nobody can be punished twice for the same crime.
About guns... I'm strong supporter of 2nd Amendments, but I support vigorous background check. In CA you should wait 2 weeks, before you'll get your gun.
